Thank you for watching our ear wax removal video today. The ear wax extraction featured in todays video was carried out using endoscopic microsuction. This procedure uses a small camera called an endoscope to visualise inside the ear canal whilst a small suction tube is inserted to gently remove ear wax.
All the ear wax cleaning videos you see on our channel are carried out by our ear wax specialists Mr Rhys Barber and Mr Taylor Green.

Ear wax plays a vital role in ear health. It helps to prevent ear infection and helps with ear cleaning by picking up any dirt or debris that accumulates in the ear canal. Normally this ear wax would fall out of the ear taking any dirt or debris with it.
How to remove ear wax?
Many people use q-tips/cotton buds for ear wax removal at home this is one of the worst things you can put into the ear as this can lead to an increased ear wax buildup or in extreme cases impacted ear wax. The best way to remove ear wax is to let your ears clean themselves and not to put anything smaller than your elbow in your ears!
How do I know if I have an earwax blockage?
If you experience a change in your hearing, discomfort in the ear or jaw or a feeling of fullness in the ear canal you may have an ear wax blockage. Our advice is to speak to your Doctor or local Audiologist who can take a look in your ears and assess whether ear cleaning is needed.

My grandson was born hearing impaired. He can hear without his hearing aids but it sounds like he is under water. I love watching your videos because it helps me understand him better. He is 14 now and removes his own ear wax with a special tool recommended by his audiologist. His audiologist has become a wonderful family friend and so she taught him what he needs to know to take care of his ears and hearing aids. Thank you for making this content. Sending you all happiness and joy from Atlanta GA USA

An audiologist who told his young patient to get a tool and remove his own earwax? I’m sorry, but that’s very dangerous and any Audiologist or ENT worth their credentials would never ever do that! I hope the channel addresses this comment.

@@boots73calol my mom works in the medical field and she ALWAYS cleaned our ears. I now clean my own ears WITHOUT qtips. It's better to know how to do it than have to go in and get wax removed. Literally the only thing you have to worry about is the eardrum.

@@boots73ca No apology necessary. Believe me, I totally agree with you! Cleaning out ear wax is a very delicate procedure. It was because we are all friends with the audiologist and she taught my daughter and grandson what to look for to make an appointment when necessary. I gives me the willies when he does it.

I am hearing impaired and I have that same experience of being able to hear but it's extremely muffled. I am always saying to people hang on I can her the noise but I can't make out the words. I have very moist ears and eczema and that has damaged my hearing aids many times. Would you mind sharing how he cares for his hearing aids? Maybe I am missing something.

My girlfriend, my sister in law and a work colleague were all diagnosed with acoustic neuroma. They all opted for surgery. They all suffered from severe vertigo post op, my girlfriend lost her hearing sadly it was in her good ear, my sister-in-law had no postop side-effects and my work colleague lost her sense of taste. Their specialist couldn’t believe that he seen or three people and I knew them all. Go figure.

I love these videos 😍 On vacation to Anguilla years ago, I went into the ocean and my ears filled up and wouldn’t drain and I could hear barely anything. We took a ferry to a French speaking island and I used rusty French to get a bottle of hydrogen peroxide and an ear wash bulb. After 3 days, I could not believe what I finally flushed out of my ears; basically very long ribbons of skin. Ever since, I’m really interested in ear care.

I always enjoy your videos. One bit of feedback: when you post links to archived videos in the middle of the new one, it has to be accessed right then which means, if you do, it stops the new video in favor of the linked one. When you put links at the end, they cover much of the screen. So perhaps you could simply put the links in the narrative with the current video explanation? Thanks again for your devotion to educating all of us in such a fun manner.

When I was younger, I ALWAYS had hard as heck wax. I clogged the tube multiple times in just one visit. I remember that they did something that felt like scraping and like peeling off. Advice for alternative to Q-Tips for drying out ear due to mental irritation from evaporating fluid? For clarification, when I am dry and my ears are not, it is incredibly irritating and I have to dry them out. My wax doesn't build up at all, so I've never had issues with plugging up my ears (even with having used Q-Tips for close to 2 decades) but I am aware of the issues that Q-Tips can cause in the ear and was wondering about alternatives that wasn't Rubbing Alcohol or similar.

Not sure how interesting or unusual this is, but I had my ears cleared out using irrigation by a nurse at my GP about 10 years ago because I was struggling, and they popped the irrigation tool in, flooded the ear canal with water and started cleaning it as you do, and when she pulled the irrigation tool out, there was what can only be described as a parsnip attached to the end of it! It was about an inch long, had the irrigation tool embedded into it and started off thick, tapering to a point at the end close to the ear drum, which I thought was quite bizarre and the nurse herself said she hadn't seen one like that before! I wish I'd taken a picture of it now!

For my whole life i have had recurring outer ear infections, usually between 2 to 6 a year. Usually starts in one ear and i end up with it in the other. One of my local hospitals has an emergency ent and i always get sent there, i have narrow canals and always need a wick inserted. They know me pretty well in there now 😂 Due to all the infections, I've had my ears cleaned out many times, and from a patients point of view, it's weirdly satisfying but quite ticklish! I've also ended up having perforations multiple times in both ears due to severe infections, first time was double ear infection that lead to double perforation! Got very unlucky cause we also found out i was allergic to penicillin too! I love all your videos, they're all interesting, but i particularly like skin peels and particularly like it when you get to use the forceps. I also always find the mastoid cavity ones super interesting.
