They are all over eBay, but you are missing the best Toyota factory option from 1980. The inclinometer! They are very cool. They made them on their little four-wheel drive station wagons as well. It's 100% mechanical, the only electrical components is a light bulb. My off-road rig is a much newer truck but I took the inclinometer out of my 81 Toyota basket case to put in it. Low-tech and surprisingly useful in the trail

I checked ebay and wasn't having any luck finding one for a 1st gen. I'll have to check again. The inclinometer is definitely sweet. I probably wouldn't run one. They are very hard to find. Cool stuff though!

Do you have an idea which trans adapter they used? If you take that trans out find out if you can.

I remember these being new on the Toyota lot in Alamogordo NM as a young aircraft mechanic at Holloman. It was my dream but didn’t have credit yet. Blue ones and White models I remember. They were awesome new. 79-83 at Holloman.

A buddy of mine had a blue 81 yota with a 4.3l swap and I think 33's or 35's with low gears looks alot like his ol rig
@zac0912 Жыл бұрын
I picked up an 80 with a 4.3 swapped into it as well, but the tards hacked notches into the frame to clear the headers. Thinking i will pull it back out and beat on the headers for needed clearance and patch the frame. The also hacked on the core support to clearance the rad, just like on yours. Does that notched like that worry you? I am not sure if anything needs done about it.

I also have a really nice set of rears up front built with some trail gear springs that will fit perfect it’s about 3in lift springs
@clayton2032 жыл бұрын
I used rear procomp 4 inch springs, Took the overload out, super good flex and nice highway driving, But still firm enough that it don’t sway bad in curves, little bit of nose dive on hard braking but nothing major Bolted up but I did put boomerangs for shackles, Figure it gave me 21/2 inches in lift and pushed the axle foward mayb close to 2 inches

Looks like I even have a factory Toyota elocker I’m the rear also.

How did you keep the same cluster with the wiring? Does someone sell a wiring kit or something?
@rustedratchetgarage67882 жыл бұрын
To explain it simply enough if you have a tachometer the tachometer diode can be changed out to read correct signal you use the coolant temperature sensor that came with your original engine to tell the coolant temperature gauge what temperature the engine is that you use the oil pressure sender that came with the original engine adapted or directly screwed in in most cases to the engine's oil supply to read for the oil pressure gauge or oil pressure light the alternator light is just an inline to the Exciter of the alternator and as for the speedometer if you're adapting to the original manual transmission you would have the original transmission cable for the speedometer if you're using a later model electronic you would have to swap in the speedometer that came from the donor vehicle
