The '65 Mustang was actually a surprisingly small car. The huge modern ones make it easy to forget, but the original Mustang was based on the Falcon chassis, which was considered a compact at the time. The Hoonicorn also sits significantly lower than a stock Mustang, so it's not a big car at all (although it is much wider than a stock '65 Mustang). Measuring by wheelbase, the Hoonicorn works out just slightly undersized at 1/10.6 scale, while the Lancia is slightly oversized at about 1/9.6 scale.

If I'm doing math right, it costs $350 plus you'll spend another $150ish to make it brushless. For the end price I can have a brushless 1/7 ZD Racing Hoonicorn that runs 6s. The math doesn't add up very well. I like your video though, Phil!

That was really cool. i did a similar thing once with a HSP drift car, I put a Traxxas VXL system in it. The 1st stopping place for that Traxxas system was my Hornet, but that just ended up being silly. Anyhoo, in the HSP with grip tires is was very fast, past a certain point it would take off. Good times.

I do a lot of 1/10 scale street cars, and have found the best motor for "hooning" around with is the team associated reedy 3300kv motor, its the stock one for the sc10 but on a road car definitely the smoothest motor I've used and considering the last run I did it on plastic gearing and a dumborc radio just because I was actually trying to see if I could ruin the car (tt01e) but it actually still drives and hoons after about 45 minute of abuse

In 1:1 scale that model Mustang was a smaller coup. So it actually looks to be right. It's the truck that's looks to be a little small for that scale. Because it was much bigger than the Mustang in 1:1

Probably about right at 1/10. The Hoonicorn is quite small compared to an unmolested Mustang. It's short wheelbase. Great video 🔥

Yes there are some similarities . Motor is on the other side and the middle gear to the spurgear is not in the tt02. But really looks like a brother or sister 😜 of it

It's not just about price. Platform is also bad. I have first gen Apex scion. The reason I bought it it was price, it was very cheap, 220$ brushless. But it's a bad car, tires exploded, a lot of parts broke and associated discontinued it after couple years so now I can't find parts to fix it, waste of money. I am sure that associated will discontinue this model as well after couple years, and with no parts support it will be worthless

You can buy a brushed 4tec mustang, licensed by ford, for 229$. You can get a licensed Bigfoot/ford from traxxas for 229$, also brushed. The price of this car is absolutely not justifiable and to put it bluntly, I got means lol. The painted body is 135$ on eBay….the body is 200mm wide w/249mm wheelbase if you want to fit it to the car you already have lmao.

I don't know if you will still read this since this video has been out for two weeks now, but i was able to greatly improve the handling of my Hoonicorn, especially with the oversteering. Go back to the AE site, look at the parts list for the Hoonicorn and click on the sway bars. You'll see in the description in one of the tabs, that there's a list of items you need to order in addition to install the sway bars (parts off the B74.1)if you get enough parts for the front and rear, you'll be completely satisfied with the upgrade in handling! It drifts on smooth asphalt so close to the Infraction..... but in 1/10th size. You'll be grinning from ear to ear with elation! 1.5mm rear and 1.6mm front. Spektrum Firma 80 with 4000KV motor and Futaba 4PM radio. There is absolutely NO reason a pair of sneakers should cost $175+ just like there is absolutely NO reason any RC car should cost what they do...
