Crazy new rocket stove video. Exoman and Farm Girl make and amazing rocket stove in 1 minute with cinder blocks and twigs. They then use the stove to cook hamburgers with just a few twigs!
**WARNING** The following is antagonistic: We understand that it makes a certain group of stupid people feel intelligent to call intelligent people stupid. That notwithstanding, Don't cook next to your home if you are not prepared or do not possess the mental fortitude of these two older adults who survived growing up in the 60's and 70's and are infinitely more resourceful and intelligent than those calling them stupid! Keep reading before you speak to avoid just being a mindless troll and to learn that your habits may be much more dangerous. On the other side of that wall, there is a gas stove that is used to cook indoors. The number one cause of house fires is INDOOR COOKING. Outdoor is all the way at the bottom of the list under things like indoor heating, smoking, candles, faulty wiring, curious children. Do you smoke, drink alcohol or use dangerous drugs, feed yourself or kids sugar, mac & cheese, fast or processed foods and sodas. YOU ARE KILLING YOUR FAMILY. Outdoor cooking doesn't make any meaningful appearance on study list of cause of death or destruction. All that other stuff you do is WAY MORE DANGEROUS. Exoman (who has film stunt credits on IMDB is keenly aware of the fact that mishaps do occur) has cooked inside and next to the house for 40 years (also professionally) and never a fire. His Weber grill has always been on his wooden deck, 2 feet away from his wooden home and right next to his hose bib. He keeps fresh fire extinguishers close by. Farm Girl grew up with a wood burning stove INSIDE HER HOME with wood and carpet and drapes in close proximity... never a fire. Conversely, having a deep fat fryer next to your house or on a wooden deck is asking for disaster. A deep fat fryer is gallons of hot oil over a flame. This is a demonstration of two lean grass fed beef burgers being cooked right next to a hose bib with running water by two award winning entertainers. There were high winds this day and the cooker was constructed (with risks fully evaluated and mitigated) in a place that would make filming possible. If you are more comfortable not watching, consider... not watching or watch the demonstration that takes place out in the yard here: • Build a rocket stove i...
This is an amazing survival cooking setup or just a useful trick to know.
There are all kinds of amazing rocket stove ideas but this is one of Farm Girl and Exoman's favorites. It cooks very efficiently with just twigs and branches! Farm Girl and Exoman quickly cook burgers with a minimal amount of fuel.
This quick video shows how to make a rocket stove in just a 1 minute once you have a block with the end cut out.

A beautiful stove. As an older person without many tools, I appreciated the simplicity of your stove. Also could see that it was completely safe where you had it, as the block with the actual heat was away from the house, certainly no different than a gas or charcoal grill. Keep up the good work. Those burgers looked great.

@Billthewelder55 I think these stoves are fantastic, and the interest has alot to do with the state of affairs going on in this country.......meaning that people are worried about being able to cook food and boil water should the SHTF, which I believe is in the near future. Things have been going downhill since the last election at a rapid pace and there is a sense of foreboding in the air. These stoves will make a big difference when things go horribly wrong. With just some twigs and small sticks you can feed yourself and purify water. That kind of information will prove invaluable. Good job. 👍

Long story short. My friend had made a 3' fire ring on a concrete pad for burning refuse, and backyard cooking. She used 8" concrete block, two rows high, the same construction block you used. She had a nice fire going when I got there, we were standing there a few minutes when one of the blocks exploded sending chunks of cinder block 50 feet in the air with most of the pieces landing on her 1974 Eldorado's convertible top, and burning down into the leather seats. We never thought anything like that would ever happen, and by the grace of God we weren't hurt. I would strongly advise using "fire" brick because it is designed for high temps, it's the same brick masons line fireplaces with in homes. In my opinion, you might want to warn your viewers about this danger............................................................................................................................. Regards, Jim.

Pat Geren. It doesn't matter if you use ''dry blocks'', if they sit over night the temperature change and humidity or ''dew'' will be enough moisture content to make them explode the next day. They are too porous. If you compare them to fire brick then you will see that they are very dense compared to a cement block.

chefgiovanni First thing I thought of when I saw this video. It's sitting on top of a small wooden staircase, which is on top of a wooden deck and he's got it sitting within inches from his house. Second, cinder blocks aren't made to withstand that kind of heat and could crack and potentially explode. All I see is an accident just waiting to happen and it's not going to be pretty.
@WurledPeas
@WurledPeas 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah ,it's all been said before in the comments before, cinder block are not for fire, you got lucky they didn't fail catastrophically. I've seen decades old cinder blocks explode in fires and cause burns and eye injury(I was an EMT) when people unknowingly built fire rings put of them. Also, that kind of concrete gives off a corrosive gas when exposed to fire, not that it truly matters. Get fire bricks.

i had to laugh when reading your "warning" I too grew up in the 60's and 70's. We survived riding bikes with no helmets, driving cars with no seatbelts facing BACKWARDS in station wagons, we played outside far from our homes until dark with our friends, we played games AFTER dark, we had 12 foot tall metal slides (or taller in my memory!) we had jungle gyms that would cause anyone to be faint of heart, hung upside down by our knees over gravel more than 8 feet high. Kids these days NEVER play outside on their expensive plasticized playhouses, NEVER ride bikes or play with neighbor kids, do they even know what "kickball, or Kick -the-can" even is???? WE are the TRUE SURVIVORS. lol!
