There's something I've always wondered about stainless pulsejet engines, what about fatigue cracking? sure, areas that see high-heat won't suffer too badly, but there's plenty of other areas that will see significant high-frequency cyclic loading. I only say this because the top of the heat-shield looks cracked as opposed to melted, but it's hard to see from shaky action-cam footage! I'd love to see a close-up look at the wreckage, to me, it's more fun when stuff breaks as there's an opportunity to learn something. It's always so disappointing when everything works first time! Thanks Bob, always inspiring!

That heat nearly did get to you as the inner pipe was collapsed when the outer melted through. The seat likely took some of it. Good that you weren't hurt, so keep having fun. It's interesting that viewers can often see problems "before" you did during the drive as we have a better angle on the engine(s). This happened with the last engine that melted a bit as well. Good that you weren't hurt, so keep having fun.

I rode that skid from 45mph to a stop right at my driveway hahaha

Robert - as far as some of the cooling-issues goes, could you rig up either a NOS or CO2 'fogging system' - directed onto the area[s] requiring the most cooling? *I'm not familiar with the exact temps involved, so that method may be underkill, but, an idea none the less. Keep up the great work brother!! This stuff is absolutely Awesome! 🤘😊 Sam -
@confuseatronica2 жыл бұрын
hmm nos is a huge oxidizer so it would help eat the metal, and CO2 on glowing hot metal would produce carbon monoxide.
@catey62 Жыл бұрын
@@confuseatronica I've watched a few of his video's and similar ones using pulse jet engines. and seeing how how red hot they get, I've often wondered if they could make a water jacket to wrap around them, connected to a radiator, to help cool the the hottest parts of the motor.

Here we havean older man who's driving a makeshift jet powered kart through the desert and suddenly the engine blows out. The engine caught fire and melted the heat shield and there's even the surface of the ground has a layer of burnt concrete. But by the time he gets off he's watching and laughing away the fact that his engine collapsed. I don't know how many years worth of accidents it would take to get to that stage. Also Robert should combine all the Jet kart videos into one full-length movie. That would be super cool.
@ІгорАлієв2 жыл бұрын
You are EPIC. Your dust and fire plumes after your buggy are EPIC! By the way, you can make outer pipe longer than inner one, in order to use ejection of the air between tubes for the forced cooling of your engine. But this may completely cover your flames.
