My husband died from a brain abscess. Caused by an abscessed wisdom tooth. The dentist pulled his tooth without any antibiotics before or after. With 2 weeks he was in the neuro ICU. He endured 8 brain surgeries. He sadly passed away 5 months later. I'm sueing this dentist. The proper thing to do would be to give prophylactic antibiotic for a week , then extract the tooth. He got atrociously bad care. By the way, he was a healthy 61 year old man. He ran 4 miles everyday. So there was no underlying cause for this. Just the substandard care that dentist provided.

I'm currently recovering from a dental abscess. The last 4 days were absolute hell. I called one dentist after another and nobody would take me. I have Delta dental through the state, and even though their website states they accept Delta thru the state, they denied it over the phone. OR, I wasnt seen there before, so they refused to see me. I had fevers, chills, the entire side of my face was swollen so that I couldn't see out of my eye. The ER can only give a dental block. The abscess finally drained on its own yesterday and the pain was gone in an instant. I'm going to sign up for REAL dental insurance, I will find a way to pay the premiums! Please, no judging. Went to the dentist today to get some opinions to why are my maxillary sinus cavities filled with abscess (according to an mri and ct scan image requested from an ent). I have been feeling headaches and cognitive issues for the past two years and it’s getting worse. So despite not having pain on my gums the dentist said I have bacteria building up at the root of a crown touching the bone and one of my two dental implants look like it’s caving in the maxillary sinus cavity. I have another abcess right now. In Appalachia, there's a huge lack of quality dental care. One dentist caped a tooth on the bottom they removed 12 ounces of infection. I had a gaping hole in my neck for awhile. 6 more hours I would have died falling asleep. I would have choked on infection. My mother was on a nausea medication when she was pregnant with me. That was removed from the market for causing some type of deficiency in our teeth. For 3 years I've been trying to get dentures. More exuses, more abscesses. Thoughts? Yet these dental surgeons here, are just now coming to the conclusion I did at 23..your teeth can literally kill you, that infection can also travel all through your body. Which I think is why I lost part of my toe.. I was borderline gangrene. I was care flighted out that next hour for emergency surgery.

I just had 9 teeth removed after years of pain and torture. Last 8 months....I'm so tired and can't get out of bed. Lost my job as I couldn't stay awake. Was giving myself B12 shots to give me energy. The dentist wanted over $10,000 with my share $1300. They wouldn't do a payment plan so I just suffered. I got a decent income tax claim back and found a dentist who didn't put me under and it was a lot cheaper than $1300! That was just the pulling of the teeth...not partial dentures either. This dentist is working with me and it's cost so far $250 over a couple visits. We did one side then the other. I am sitting here now with bloody gauze in my mouth. The ones today....the infection was into my sinus cavity and boy did it stink!!! She told me that no wonder I never feel well. I really hope I start feeling better. I have an MRI appointment next week because I feel like something is wrong. I constantly have headaches and a buzzing noise. Recently, I started to get dizzy all the time. Maybe it was all about the infection. When you don't have a lot of money, it's hard to find a dentist that doesn't want to charge you as much as they can! They are so good at working with me. In 6 weeks, she will make my dentures also. She really is my super hero!!!

I need most of my teeth pulled, I've been in and out of the ER repeatedly for an abscess that keeps coming back over and over again, but I can't get into a dentist near me until nearly the middle of the year. I've tried to get help, but I do not have a vehicle, or good insurance. My future wife is very concerned about my health as I've developed small weight loss, sunken eyes, mild headaches, and soreness in most of my joints dive this abscess has formed, and it's only the worst one, not the only one, almost all of my teeth need to be removed, as they are all decaying from a combination of poor dental health and old fillings that never got fixed (which was part of the poor dental health)

I was told I need an oral surgeon and that the wait is up to a year. I’ve had this infection since before Covid. At least 6 years now. But not an emergency. I got a filling done the other day and my dentist dismissed my concern about the infection spreading. Our medical system is a joke. I’m now terrified more so and I can’t afford to die-I have two young kids that need me. And yet I’ve had a migraine, dizziness, constant fatigue and pain for two weeks straight as it’s gotten worse. Yes, completely accurate. Here, during the Pandemic, I had a broken upper molar. My eustachian tube became swollen. Nobody diagnosed it. I began having problems with my balance. Again, it went undiagnosed. I complained to my Dentist. Because the gum was healed, he didn't stop to think, the Infected Tooth, spread bacteria and germs into my Upper Respiratory System, Middle Ear, and Sinus Cavity. Again, the problem goes effectively unresolved. Balance issue, chronic Mucus in the Sinus Cavity, and still no effective diagnostics to fully determine, what is causing these problems, but the Condition Persists. * Question: Exactly, Who is fully trained to {Clearly Determine how to get me better, before something worse happens, so I can return to my life}...? Can you help with this ongoing problem. ? Thank you in advance. 😊 Note: I did see an ENT early this Spring. Because He saw no obvious Signs, the problem is being dismissed as psychosomatic. How can this type of problem go undiagnosed, even by my PCP and the ENT...? 🤔🤔 Note: I have some antibiotic resistence to regular amoxicillin. An urgent care I spoke to, worked with me in late summer, 2021 about the problem; prescribed Amoxicillin with Augmentin. Efficacy was felt. Balance improved, though the problem only goes away for approx. 12-14 weeks, each and every time I ask a doctor to address my concerns... Again.., my PCP, though She has done no Empirical tests to rule out any Signs of a malingering infection and problem, continues to now suggest antibiotics had a Placebo Effect. Rubbish.. This problem began when the Upper Molar Broke snd Became Infected, and not removed from early 2019, til Mid Spring, 2021. Any help is greatly appreciated. A strong home-antibiotic can be made from hardened coconut fat and echinacea oil. I melt the coconut fat, and pour in some oil. Then pour it into an ice cube tray or something like that. Just used simple X-rays and that’s not a full test. Have to take n the cold test on the tooth to see if it reacts. If it does then the root is infected. I’ve been running around for about a year and a half with this condition that the dentist had no idea. But he quickly put a crown on the tooth and told me at three different appointments concerning the tooth that I’m using the wrong toothpaste. Now this last visit the black root showed up in X-ray and he said you have a rotten tooth root and here’s a dental surgeon you can make an appointment with to have the tooth looked at and possibly removed. He tried to hide my X-rays from when I first visited before the crown was put on but wouldn’t show me and his nurse quickly changed the subject. Now I have a spot on my jaw inside my mouth that could be infection in the jawbone. Believe me I then called a lawyer to get to the bottom of this. If you have pain in your tooth, then by all means get it checked out by a reputable dentist don’t wait. Maybe get a second opinion so it doesn’t happen like it happened to me.

Now I'm scared. I woke up with my face swollen. Went to the ER. They did a CT scan and told me I had cellulitis and a tooth abscess. I received IV antibiotics and was sent home with oral antibiotics. Swelling went down. I was in no pain. I went to see a dentist, who told me I needed a root canal. However, he wouldn't see me unless I paid for a 3D scan. Out of pocket $170. I already had a CT and 2 x-rays. There was no need for 3D scan. So, I got another dentist who told me I didn't need that scan. I'm 68, never had an abscess or a root canal.
@WorLHAHA18 күн бұрын
you're gonna be fine, just get the root canal or get the tooth pulled, i had 3 abscesses for years when i was around 18, i had terrible teeth, my whole face was swollen basically every few months for weeks, i was scared to go to the dentist, but not for the reason as everyone else, i was scared that i would get judged by how bad my teeth was. By the time i finally decided to go i had to get all 3 teeth pulled because they were all rotten so root canal wasnt an option. The dentist said if i waited more time i would end up in a wheelchair in a few years. That was the scariest thing anyone has ever told me, please get the root canal or get it pulled as fast as possible, it can affect your health.

A friend of mine is here visiting from Florida. When he came to the door, his eye was watering. Very bad I noticed throughout the night his eye was continuing watering so I asked him what was going on.. he did not respond. Then I saw an hour later she had an extreme large amount of green puss Dripping out of his eyes. I asked him again what was going on and gave him some tissue… he said he’s had an abscess tooth. I’ve never seen anything like this in my life. When he wakes up, I am going to share some information with him on this and get him to the hospital ASAP

I just got a brain abscess. And came to watch this video just after I was diagnosed. Let me tell you what exactly happened to me because I'm keeping all the records I experienced. I know I'll die very soon but I want to write here in comments so that people who will face the same situation can be super alert. It started in 2023, when I first felt that pain. My first toothache, it was because of the torn enamel and it was extremely painful. I had no idea that time why this pain is so intense. By that time I didn't know that all the pulp inside my tooth is gone and it is the nerve ending which is causing pain. That day was the worst day of my life, I remeber the pain was so intense ( it was trigeminal neuralgia). Next day I took some painkiller and antibiotics because swelling was also there. Pain got relieved, but I decided not to chew anymore from that side. And from that day I never had such an intense pain because I never ate from that side. Sometimes, in 2023, there was a swelling witg moderate pain if I brush hard but it would usually go without any painkiller as I told that I never chew from that side. I remember I had such episodes 10-12 times in whole year of 2023. But...but. on 11 Sept 2024, I brushed my teeth casually in hurry in the morning and I felt like it is going to hurt again, I went to work and it started paining ( moderate), and pain got worse at night. And worst by next morning 4am. It was same like the first time. I went for some antibiotics and painkiller( 5 days) . Amoxycillin-625, metrogyl -400 and dentaforce DT tablet. I took these medicines for about 5-6 days. But my pain was not going. I felt a sharp pain near my ear right side. It is the Worst pain humans can feel. It was more painful than trigeminal neuralgia. Then I started taking dentaforce DT and paracetamol together and it eased my pain. And I decided to pull the teeth. I went to the dentist, they told me that there is swelling, they gave some medicines for 5 days ( same medicines which I took). Swelling was less after 5 days and my tooth was pulled by the dentist. I took medicines for pain and I was thinking that I could've pulled it out earlier. I remember I was happy. I thought my problem is gone. But after 6 days when the medicine course ended. I started having the same pain at the same area. Near my ear. I had no idea. I thought may be they pulled the tooth but there is still some infection. Went again to the dentist. They took x-ray and all. And he told me that had there any problem, I could've felt pain or swelling or lymph node swelling near the tooth. He told me to have a CT scan or brain. It was costly. But the constant thrombing pain in my right side of head forced me to go for a CT scan and MRI. Doctors were speechless. May be I was the unluckiest guy. They said nothing. They told my parents to refer me to the higher centre. I was thinking all the time ( it is a dream, it can't be possible, how can a tooth make me trapped in such a situation) . We went to the higher centre, doctors told that they have to operate on my brain in order to remove the abscesses. I'm not that rich. I asked them any alternate method, they said " wait for the death" 😊

get those wisdom teeth all the bunch taken out by a (good, kind ) dentist, and don't be afraid, i was ! . .but then extraction went smoothly and healing went smoothly, years of anxiety and stress came to an end, i really really do not like to lose my original teeth, but they really weren't getting used, and it's okay, . . .also, eating, chewing not affected. Be brave it's worse to think about it and you will do just fine

Dentistry should absolutely be a part of our healthcare plans. The best dental insurance I ever had only paid out a maximum of $1,000 a year. It is extremely expensive to go to a dentist. Right now I have an abscessed tooth, I’m on day 3, I have an appointment with my dentist in the morning, but only because my wealthy ex-husband agreed to pay for me to go and have this tooth removed. I have four more that need to be removed AND I need my bottom partial denture reworked. This will most likely cost over $3,000. The whole left side of my face is swollen, I just started running a fever. I’m scared I’m going to get very sick before he sees me in the morning.

When I go back to the dentist I will be demanding that they just pull my tooth because during the summer the dentists at the dental school discovered an abscess in my gums under a crown tooth that I have. It's only been treated and medicated ONCE since then and I been dealing with it for 3 months now. I asked for antibiotics but because they don't see my situation as a serious infection so they refuse to prescribe any. I was supposed to get Root canal retreatment and a new crown but insurance won't cover it and I'm not paying another procedure (that had me in a chair for almost 6 hrs) and another $400 crown. I definitely will be asking for an extraction now.

How does an infected tooth cause a brain abscess? Isn't the maxillary sinus between the teeth roots and the brain? I would have thought that a tooth infection would have to first infect the sinus before infecting the brain.

@@Mermaidlife97 I was on anti biotics for about a month and was waiting to have all my remaining teeth pulled for dentures. The antibiotics worked but didn’t eliminate it. Only pulling the tooth worked and it still took a couple weeks till the infection fully cleared out. It was in my upper front left tooth. Infection got so bad it exploded puss and blood out of my nose. The drainage out of the tooth socket lasted a few weeks too as it must have been in the bone too of the tooth. Long story of what caused it more than likely but yeah it’s all good now.

So how does one determine if you have decay under a crown without them having to destroy the crown? They cant pop off a porcelain crown without wrecking it. Is it visible on xrays? I had a deep filling removed and crowned, treated/cleaned with ozone water and gas prior to them sealing it up. That crown tooth hurts still every once in a while but every time I go to the 6 month check up, they say my teeth are perfect with almost zero tartar or calculus. I'm very concerned there's something under that crown due to the throbbing periodic discomfort. Please advise. Dr? Anyone?

I just got my crown removed today. The x ray showed a bit of decay. When it was removed the whole base and towards the root was BLACK! 👀 my dr said that X-rays will never show the whole story of what is going on with teeth. Problem in America is “for profit” health “care”..no one can afford anything. I’m on disability, and my drug insurance has gone up to 120 a month alone, plus they deduct Medicare (280) a month from your Social Security check. Who can also afford a separate dental insurance bill? Plus, finding a decent dentist is absurdly hard. My great dentist retired, some joker then ruined my teeth by drilling little bits over my whole mouth, and all the stuff he glued on fell off within a year.

today I was told I need a root canal with tooth #17 where I have a crown. I was at the dentist two yrs ago. I may just have that tooth pulled. My dentist told me I can wait a year and then take an x ray again, and only if it gives me pain would I need to have a root canal. It must mean that the tooth is dead, right? For 17 mo. I've had a dozen severe neuro problems to which 12 drs don't know what's wrong with me. It's gotten worse after recently taking an anti-depressant, Mertazapine. My severe insomnia got even worse. I wonder if my tooth has been causing me these issues. Any thoughts? I know I'm sensitive to chemicals, including propofol which I had for a sedative when I had a colonoscopy last summer - my neuro system broke out so badly I wanted to die. That G.I. dr. didn't care one bit, acted like nothing happened. Thanks.
