'Drive Safe' difficult in a Supercharged Atom lol especially when it is anything other than bone dry. Great review Pete and reminded me of the passenger ride I had in one at Dunsfold. The ultimate Track car especially with that high revving K20 Engine. Simply awesome!!!

You holding your hand up to feel the wind flow rememebrs me of a story of back in the day one Bruce McLaren took a passager around Goodwood ( in a CamAm car ) and got them to work out where the wind flow was so they knew how high to mount the wing!!!! pre wind tunnels...lol

I’ve driven one of these around the Top Gear track, my brain couldn’t keep up with what I needed to do next, mad as a box of frogs. They are made about a mile from my house so I see quite a few on the roads.

Wheelspin in 3rd = a few problems. Damper and spring rate need adjusting. Needs to softer at the rear. Tyre pressures need lowering. At least below 30psi. Tyres are probably well past their best. 1st gear is ok, as long as it's not overevved on launch. But this car is not about 0-60 times. It just happens to be quick in this discipline. Where it shines, is on tracks such as Anglesey, Knockhill and brands hatch... There it is virtually untouchable...

Hi Peter, this Arial Atom is a road rocket it's just a shame you could not get behind the wheel and have a bit of fun. I guess this is one of his man toys for the summer weekends but to get wheel spin in 3rd gear that's crazy I remember Clarkson driving one of these on Top Gear and his face morphed he did look funny but wow that car is defo a boys toy. Cheers Alan. It would have been fab to have a drive but totally understand why that was not possible. The Caterham 620R I have in a couple of weeks should be very similar in terms of performance though. Not sure if the car Jezza drove had the little windscreens. They work surprisingly well !

My new neighbours dad turned up in one , the same spec , his daughter was still in bed so wasn't ready and i got chatting to him , he said do you want to go out for a spin ! , we went down the baypass and A roads right around the city , I had no helmet on (as the helmet was girl size lol ) , All i can say is every video i have seen dont do it justice , it is akin to Picard saying engage , other cars doing 70mph just appear to suddenly be going 70mph in reverse . This was only 3 days ago on a damp day !

Having had a bird strike my helmet at 70mph whilst driving a Caterham 620R, I would not drive or passenger in a car like this without a helmet now. Really shook me up. Epic cars though 👏

Think the UK got the better Ariel atom V USA.How much bhp are these? , Just seen that the USA spec model is so much different than UK spec,USA uses a GM engine with supercharger bolted straight onto the head,UK Honda engine with rotrex supercharger ent they? And I've been told is also big difference in bhp from UK to USA as well?, USA spec about 250bhp but I don't know UK spec?.

UK have a range of engine/power options. This one was 300bhp 👍

It's the most lairy car I've been in. Due to insurance reasons I couldn't drive it but it looked a proper handful. For power to weight ratio it was certainly to quickest :-)

I have toyed with the idea of one of these or a 420 Caterham but still can't bring myself to part with my motorbikes. Both cars look such great fun but one point I would make guys . . . wear a full face crash helmet with the visor down. Wearing a lid might make you feel like a plonker but at 70-80mph and without a screen or visor, a decent sized stone in the face will put you in hospital or far, far worse - believe me, it's not worth the risk.
