@@gg.youlubeatube6249 Yeah, they blurred her hand in the same shot. They are definitely trying to withhold the facts. They blurred the foreground grass @3:22 also. What are they trying to hide? And don't get me started on the background whenever Anna is in the picture! They certainly aren't fooling me. I know that forests are not that blurry. Oh my butt hurts so much because they used Vittoria tires instead of my favorite brand.

Tire tech has definately come a long way. This is actually one of the places where I care about weight. So the lighter and more durable a tire can be is ideal. Riding regular singletrack on enduro or DH casing tires is miserable. So I always get the trail rated tires and they have worked out great for me all while allowing my bike to still feel snappy. I love the Vittoria Mazza tire, it's one of the best all around tires out there right now.

as a professional nerd, i appreciated this video! great info to know when selecting my next set of tires. It got me thinking though, seems like there could be an advantage to having a stiffer tire upfront with a more flexible tire in the rear. Stiffer upfront for punctures, flexible in the back for comfort is this a thing? That's for my single suspension bike, up front.

Better tyre deformation reduces the up down movement of body and bike, ergo reduces energy loss and is therefore faster.

Vittoria is currently my favorite MTB tire brand. I tried a Mazza Trail on the front. I won't make that mistake again. The Mazza Trail has gray sidewalls. Vittoria calls it 'Anthracite'. I don't actually know how the gray sidewalls are made, but from my perspective, it sure seems like they simply painted tan tires with a thin coat of gray paint. The gray wore off quickly, leaving me with tan sidewalls, but I don't care about the color. However, just as quickly, the tan sidewalls became frayed and frizzy. Again, I don't care about the appearance, but I couldn't trust the tire when I could clearly see it disintegrating. Despite my concern, I left it on my bike and had no problems with it. I did replace it before I would have normally, judging by the condition of the tread. I put on a Mazza Enduro. They come in black sides only. It is heavier than the Mazza Trail, but to me the extra weight is worth the peace of mind.

I had to pause the video at one point to stare at that bike girl!!! Dang it looks beautiful!!! I wonder why tire companies don’t use more colors on tires like those Onza porcupines that are all white! Colors would be cool for those of us that love to color coordinate and don’t really care about shredding the gnar so much. 😎

Sticky tires is worth it no matter the level you're at because it's a matter of safety. Rolling resistance is more related to the thread pattern, so I'd say just get the sticky rubber, and then choose the thread you like.

If you have multiple bikes and forget some of them you can take a bit of latex based tires sealant like Cream 2 on a rag (put gloves on) just keep it moist with the sealant and wipe the tires you're not using often to prevent them from cracking and dry rotting. You'll thank me later...

I'm actually on them as of a few weeks ago as well...I got a 2.3 front and 2.2 rear on my old 2013 GT force LE as I use it for XC these days. Didn't think they'd hook up as well as they do based on the benign tread pattern. Only issue I have with them so far is the casing only measures 56mm for the 2.3 and 54mm for the 2.2 on my narrow 21c rims. Unassuming all rounder for sure.

Don't forget that if you are like me and replace your tyres before they are completly wasted, to take your tyres to a local bike salvage yard where dedicated volunteers fix up old bikes and sell them for cheap, or sometimes give them away to those who cannot afford a bike. Anna? That could be a video on its own. I always take my "lightly" used tyres there. Especially just before winter when i like fresh tyres for their grip.

It depends on what you do. Lots of mountain biking tubeless can be good. If you just bike for fun buy a tube and go ride again after you fixed your bike. I personally use 45 pounds in the back and 40 on the front to prevent flats and destroying my rims. The type of tires depends on what you do

@gmbntech It is always "which is most desired feature" problem: 1. We like fat tyres for better grip and comfort, but narrow one are rolling faster. 2. We like light tyres, but heavier one give more protection. 3. We like chunky tread pattern for better offroad compatibility, but shallow give more speed. 4. We like soft compound for more grip, but hard one requied less effort while peddaling. It is not possible to have all. It is tricky, but i finally found best suit for me: Vittoria BARZO XC-Race 52-622... Offering most for my ridding style.

Anna - Hello! Question: I have a 180mm disc rotor that I want to put on my mountain bike, but I am not sure if I should mount it to the front or the back. What would you recommend? Presently, I have 160mm on both tires, and I also know I will need an adapter to use the 180mm. But what is best - front or back? By the way, this was one of the clearest videos ever!
@peggz223
@peggz223 Ай бұрын
Bike mechanic here: Best to put that rotor on the front wheel. When braking, body weight is transferred to the front of the bike, having more ‘braking leverage’ by upgrading the rotor on the wheel that’s being loaded with more weight when braking is always the best option. Squeeze just the front brake when off the bike and push forward, and your rear end will lift (lots of grip!). Squeeze just the rear brake and push, and your bike will drag the rear tire along (not much grip at all…). Increasing rotor diameter on the wheel that looses grip when braking doesn’t make sense.

For all the skinflints out there, don't believe the claims that you have to use 'tubeless ready' tyres to run tubeless, Anna mentioned that tyres have to be latex lined to work with the sealant. It's just not true, my cheapskate hybrid commuter bike is running dirt cheap, definitely not tubeless ready Halfords mtb tyres happily with Muc-off sealant. They've been on there for over a year and a few 1000kms now and have never lost any air. Similarly I've been running Schwalbe Smart Sam's on my wife's ebike tubeless for over 3 years no with no problems, apparently Smart Sam's are not tubeless compatible.
