Pulling over gives you the right to get out of the car lol. Here in Texas you can pull over to the side for whatever reason you want to, the worst that would happen is a cop pull up and see if your OK and if your fine he just drives off. Cops here will tell you especially if you get a phone call or have to respond to a text that they would much rather you pull to the side of the road, do what you need to do, and be on your way then answer it or respond while driving. This cop was out for quota

@@tombryant4518 I know it's been a month since you commented but I just caught this video...Let me enlighten you on how screwed up our systems are here in the good ole' US of A. If you fail to show up for a court appearance, they will/may issue a "Bench Warrant". That is posted across the entire United States in our fabulous Data Base from hell, so at any time any law officer or anyone checking your ID (Boarder/Immigration) will be notified and you will be thrown in jail for holding. Where ever you are (Holding state) will then contact the issuing state in this case Kentucky and say they have you incarcerated for the bench warrant. They will then ask if the state wishes to hold for extradition for pick up to offending state. If the Kentucky office says yes (Even if they plan not to, which is often the case just to screw you) The Jail in which your held is required to hold you for a set amount of time for that to take place. That could be a couple of days or longer, as they tend to lose you in the system (I know one guy who set in a jail for six months on similar Bench warrant type thing). When Kentucky doesn't show after that period your released. Which is fine and good at that point. However that Bench Warrant is not cleared and remains in effect. So in any state there after if ID'ed or when you come back into the United States again it starts all over again. You will not be given any chance to bond out of this either. You must go to the original state and go to court and now with more charges and face the Judge and charges..Pay fines and or Jail time (Perhaps time served) and then and only then it will clear the Warrant. So In Short...Skip a Charge/Court in any state...best to never come back to US again....Just a bit of knowledge on how screwed up we are down here. Have a good one....I love Canada BTW been there many times before the whole Passport thing..Haven't been back since.

I just want to add, although I think the hitchhiking ticket is ridiculous, the officer said that the statute is called hitchhiking, but it is defined as "walking on a limited access road" or whatever. I don't know if it's like that there in the USA, but here in Holland. a lot of descriptions are much broader then the name of the statute. So, it might be called hitchhiking, but really it should be called "walking where you shouldn't be walking". Just my 2 cents.

Your comment reminds me of the LEO who had a Canadian pulled over and ticketed (or tried to ticket) for not having a driver's license from that state. He said that the Canadian license wasn't valid there. (There are reciprocity laws in place. A confused mind defaults to "No" and obviously he was confused.) People travel. Their vehicle usually complies with the laws where they are from. I am fairly sure that very few vehicles would meet every law for every state. For example, how many vehicles have a current, valid inspection / emissions cert from every state they drive through?

The specific equipment requirements of any particular state are a separate issue. Getting a car registered requires meeting the state law where you're registering the car, and operating a vehicle requires following the law where you're operating the car. It's pretty clear that the cop didn't write a ticket for an unregistered or improperly registered vehicle. He wrote a ticket for an obstructed windshield. It should also be pretty clear that the obstruction wasn't OEM equipment, and likely not something that was on the windshield when the car was registered or inspected since the banner was about a short-term event.

Not really. They did the crime. The cop did his job upholding the "laws" even though they are somewhat ridiculous. Bowling Green, KY is my home town and a beautiful place to live even though I have not lived there in 18 years. To be honest, the cop had something stuck up his ass that day and decided to actually cite these infractions. Personally, I think he should have explained what he could have done, but let them go on their way with a warning.

Was wondering if they had realised this. It puts the cop on edge because know he has another person he needs to be aware of because now it unnecessarily increased the danger level of the whole stop. I can feel your pain bro. I got fined $1,000 dollars for being a passenger in my friends car. The officer said we were drag racing. We were at a red light the light turned green then they gased it not even floored it. Keep in mind I was in a challenger r/t and my friend was in a camaro ss so it’s not like they’re super cars. We pulled only to like 10 to 15 mph over the speed limit . Regardless this was such a stupid reasoning to fine me and my friend in the camaro (passengers) $1,000 dollars .. both friends who were driving were arrested and sent to jail for the night and had their cars towed and couldn’t get them back for about a month. Their fees racked up to maybe around 7k minimum. This country is corrupt . No cap.

Guys, for future reference, Kentucky State Police do not appreciate being approached during a traffic stop. It immediately sets the tone for the interaction and usually will not end well. I was a cop in KY for 10 years and can see both sides, however, it's just the way things are here. From a cop standpoint, id say approaching any police officer while they're busy dealing with someone else, is a bad idea. I understand that you guys had no ill intent. Just FYI. Thanks for the update. My take on this, DA is covering up for a corrupt cop as usual. Although he was nice and reduced the ticket, there should have been no ticket in the first place, and it was total waste of time and misuse of police power. Im from Sweden, i love your Amazon! 66, its a B18 in that, isnt it? With a very small amount of service that engine can last like for ever, literally. One of the best engines ever built. But i wish it had some more power.😉 I did my service in the Swedish armed forces, so i can give you a fun fact, they used the follow up engine, the B20(came with the later Amazons)in a cannon in the Swedish artillery. It was called the haubits 77. You manoeuvered it with two joy sticks controlling a hydralic system that was powered by a B20 engine. Volvo also built a marin version of the B18 motor for boats. But they had to adapt it a little for the use in a boat, so its not exactly the same as the one in the cars. Thx for your videos guys and please excuse my spelling and semi bad english!😄

There's Kentucky caselaw that establishes that, because ANY LEVEL OR COLOR OF NON-REFLECTIVE TINT, including completely opaque tint, is legal down to the AS-1 line of the windshield, decorative stickers (that are not reflective) are also allowed in that area. Effectively, any kind of sticker you put in that region is just "tint," and thus legal provided it's non-reflective and above the AS-1 line.

That rule is because the AS-1 line is federal law, which automatically overrides any bullshit state or local rule. There is a reason that line is on every windshield sold in the USA. Too bad they didn't know that.

Hell, if your car has interior sunshades, which nearly all cars do, they COMPLETELY OBSTRUCT that part of the windshield, so stickers/tint would also be fine. Essentially, that part of the glass isn't considered "windshield."

Kentucky police piss me off I was stationed at Ft. Campbell I was driving down a rock road in the middle of nowhere and had a truck coming head on I pulled to the side to give it room but it keep coming over to a point I stopped I didn’t know what was going on I pulled my pistol had it in my lap pointing at the door I guy gets out of the truck starts towards me he’s just dressed in hunting cammo he walks up to my door then and only then did he identify who he was and at that moment I was like so guess I can put this away now and the look on his eyes that he realized I had a gun on him was priceless he started to get stupid about it but I pointed out his stupidity of how he stopped me in his personal vehicle no lights in an aggressive manner not even showing a badge till after he told me who he is then he realized he was in the wrong he told me I needed to get out of that area I immediately went to the police station to report it I found out later that the cop was fired for the encounter the chief couldn’t believe that it happened at first I expressed how I had him at gun point and the chief was extremely unnerved but did reassure me I was in the right he said it sounds like the cop was lucky I didn’t shot him seeing he was off duty and in plain clothes and personal truck no badge showing which I was told that apparently in Kentucky a police officer has no jurisdiction when off duty and he could have been arrested for impersonating a police officer not sure if it’s true but I do know things are ass backwards up there

He’s talking about modifications pertaining to a vehicle. For example, PA allows you to lift your truck high as you want. MD does not. If you have a PA tag a MD police can’t write you a repair order for the lift.

@@williamk5001 just because i have a air freshener hanging from my rear view in texas (not illegal) and travel to California (illegal, obstruction of view) doesnt mean its not illegal. Its an obstructed view, just like in some states a cracked windshield isnt illegal but in others you can be pulled over for it and cited. The officer enforces the state law, if its illegal in the state you can be cited for it. Its up to the DA if they want to drop the charges based on whats called totality of circumstances. Its not the officers job to determine if its legal outside of the state or what other states laws are. They are still fully within their job duty to cite a driver regardless of what state they are from. Some cops will, most wont. But when your a pompous jerk like this guy best believe your getting cited for everything within the law.

@@johnmarine44 Here in California, no one gets a ticket or a repair order for obstruction of view , I've heard mostly decals on windshields, if the car has outta state plates. It's the same with loud exhaust. So many people get away without noise violations because they're from another state. That's what the OP was referring to. Of course police give out tickets they're not supposed to. They're police!

As far as the front window decal law it’s certainly there but not very enforced and for the “hitchhiking” but not really “hitchhiking” issue that’s what the statue is initially called and he ticketed you because you was rubber necking 🤷🏼‍♂️ You guys should’ve kept driving till the next exit and waited for your buddy. He only enforced that rediculas sticker law because it gave him a reason to feel empowered and I don't think there is a law for "rubbernecking".... I am sure everywhere has certain penalties which require a court appearance. For the record, in Louisiana, violation of Louisiana Revised Statute 32:263 C. "The use of any Louisiana interstate highway by pedestrians, bicycles, or other non-motorized vehicles is prohibited" does not require a court appearance and is a $252.50 ticket.
