Thanks for the kind words mate, really appreciate it!! I’ve been using size 4 long shank hooks, they seem to be just right!! As for burley fish pellets, tuna oil and some broken cockles pretty simple but brings them in👌 Thanks again for watching, good luck with your next trip🎣🎣

If you have a reef anchor, just pull up rope as far as ya can. tie off rope and motor forward till the prongs straighten out and the anchor lets go. Only tie off rope on front of your boat, never on the back.

Back in the day I remember it being 30 per person and size was 28cm, shit showing my age there aren't , am one of the lucky ones to never had experience sea sickness from a boat, from a bottle maybe but never a boat lol. Are you using a sand anchor or a reef anchor? My grandfather always tied the main line to the head of the anchor and ran it next to the top steel ring and just tied some 100lb line to hold it and if you get snagged it will break the line releasing the tope to pull from the head end end, no more lost anchors
@non-stopfishing7426
@non-stopfishing7426 Ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! Yeah back in the day the bag limits were a lot bigger, saying that 10 tingas is plenty for me. Yeah I was using a sand anchor, normally using the boat I can pull it out but not this time!! Will definitely do that with the next one, not fun losing anchors haha

Nice sesh! What berley do you use? And where you fish is it usually silt bottom or weed do you have any ideas what the anchor got caught on?
@non-stopfishing7426
@non-stopfishing7426 Ай бұрын
It certainly was mate!! I use a mixture of fish pellets, tuna oil and crushed cockles, its pretty basic but seems to work well. The bottom is mainly broken with weed, sand and some rocky outcrops, I think that's what the anchor was caught up on unfortunately.

I have very similar tinnie. Those conditions look a bit sketchy for my liking. How does it handle the chop?
@non-stopfishing7426
@non-stopfishing7426 Ай бұрын
It definitely was and there was a few times I thought of heading back, but I knew the wind wasn’t getting any worse so that kept me keen haha. Yeah for its size it handles the chop pretty well but it was a bumpy ride out to the whiting grounds. All boats have there limits and I think I was pushing mine 😬 what model tinny do you have?

@@leithal1546 nice little tinny!! Love my side console, so easy to solo fish in it!! Took a while for me to crack the code, but the more you get out and build up understanding the area it all comes together. I usually fish yorkes, but the tingas have been on fire off Adelaide.

You need to learn how put a emergency retrieve rope on anchor so can retrieve it from bottom of anchor not the top when it gets stuck.
@non-stopfishing7426
@non-stopfishing7426 Ай бұрын
I had that and usually it works first time releasing the anchor and pulling it back from the top! I reckon the chain wrapped around something as there was no movement at all. These are the risks when fishing in average conditions.

Bait can be really expensive, I stopped buying it years ago!! I collect my own bait to save money but it’s a lot of fun doing it too. I get my cockles from Goolwa beach when they are in season and I collect blood worms on their run. Definitely recommend doing it yourself, a lot fun with the family but will save you a lot of money in the long run👌

@@non-stopfishing7426 Thanks mate, I haven't had much luck on the whiting off Nth Haven but still learning the area. Yeah not cheap anchor but excellent, and comparable with Sarca's etc. I had mine snagged a couple of times and tightened up on it and a quit squirt trips it and up it comes. The only way I think you could possibly lose one is maybe in the centre of a tyre stack on one of the tyre reefs but even then I reckon you would get it pulling straight up and down.

@@ME-qq2dc I just watched how they work and wow!! So good, I definitely might have to looking at one as I recently lost a second one🤦‍♂️ It’s takes a while to work the whiting out but once you crack the code, they come in thick and fast!! Tide, fresh bait and good burley trail is key, the rest will fall into place. Just move around a bit, you find they will be scattered, but once you find them it won’t take long to get your fish.

I do that with all the bigger species like tuna and snapper when you could catch snapper. I find ice/ good ice slurry works a treat on whiting! Puts them out quick and they are nice and firm for filleting when you get home.
