My grandmother lived off on her own on the family farm for nearly 20 years after grandpa passed. She didn't drive, and the nearest neighbor was 10+ minutes away by car. For a lot of those years a neighbor would come get her and take her into a town to get her mail and groceries. Another neighbor ran cattle nearby, and he and his hands would check in. A cousin would visit quite often to check in and do grandma's hair, etc. We worried about her, and one uncle even tried to force her into a care facility years before. Then one day grandma decided she was done living alone, and moved to an assisted living facility in a near by town and wasn't there long. Without people being neighborly, horrible things happen. Thank you, and thanks to all the good neighbors out there who help out or even just make the effort to check in on others.

It is a different world with old people they have survived more than we know but it was very nice to care enough to find her.
