Correction: I meant to call the nodes the aerial roots throughout the video...the nodes is the section on the stem where the aerial roots grow from, and from there roots develop. Thanks again colorChameleon for reminding me. 😅
@luckybarrel78293 жыл бұрын
Ok, but any reason why you took one node instead of two? Most other such videos say that two nodes are required, one to form shoot and the other roots. I've kinda done the same thing you have and taken only one node, so I'm a little worried the shoot wont develop. Can you give an update? Has the shoot developed if you take only one node?

Idk the name, but I've had mine for 22 years, from my husband's funeral. I am cutting new growths to plant, and give to our children and grandchildren, in loving memory. Perhaps as a gidt for a baby shower too. It really os a very sweet, beautiful plant.
@jlevesque59074 жыл бұрын
I'm new to houseplants. I had kept the soil to my neon pothos too moist. The plant had developed a nasty gnat infestation. My whole bathroom where I keep neon pothos to clean the air had been full of gnats! I finally ended the infestation by hanging fly paper here and there along with adding a 1/4" layer of aquarium gravel to the top of the plant's soil medium. This took away the gnat's happy, moist place to lay their eggs and the gnats that hatched after in the soil had no way to surface and escape. It took two to three weeks to completely end the infestation, but it worked. I then took down all the fly paper. It's been a year now and no gnats plus my neon pothos don't seem to mind the aquarium gravel. Love neon pothos! Mine react well/seem to love being spray-misted with water from time to time.

Just to be clear, what you are calling nodes are emerging aerial root buds. The node is the junction on the stem where leaves and branches emerge on a plant. And the internode is the section of stem in between the nodes where the leaves emerge. Love your videos, thank you for sharing!

ColorChameleon I was just thinking about this again and realized I knew this all along...I was having one of those moments when shooting this...cause I was reference the aerial roots from my Monstera and past videos that you needed to cut just below the node so an aerial root can develop from there and roots can grow...duh. 🤦🏻♂️I actually say the same thing on the upcoming video of repotting cause I shot all of this the same day. Yikes 😬😅

I got a golden pothos as a birthday gift and it came in a pretty big pot. It has maybe like 10-15 individual vines in it. Everything was going nice, until one day I noticed no matter how much I watered it, I kept sagging and it wouldn’t perk up. So I searched on google and it said it could be a root issue. So I took it out of its pot and sure enough, it was tangled and hard and roots had just completely taken over the shape of the pot. SO, I put it in a bigger pot, but I had to leave it outside, because it’s too big now. But I still wanted a plant in my room, so I clipped a node with some leaves, and it’s propagating in my kitchen. The mother plant is doing better too, she’s outside in the shade, and she perked up and is growing again.

Thanks Line. I use to cut Pothos as more of a longer vine, but I find the longer they are the harder they have to work to root and bring water into the rest of the vines and leaves eventually they don’t make it for me. So shorter is better plus you can make a lot more with them. 🌿

Hello! This is my first time on this channel. Your instructions are very understandable. I was given a varigated pothos plant. It's a very beautiful plant and it was my first time with a pothos plant. The person who gave it to me said that she was giving me a part of the mother plant that broke off while transplanting so she put the broken part in soil. It still had aerial roots. Should I take it out and put it in water or leave it in the soil? THANKS
