My boyfriend took several art classes in college, things like figure drawing, etc. He said hands are the hardest thing to draw and if you can draw hands well, you can draw anything. As a furry writer who has done commissions in the past, admittedly not quite the same as an artist, respectfully, Yea'naw... I some times have to stop and take care of urges on commissions. Other times I wish I was born incapable of using any written word, nor the ability to mentally picture the stuff I've been asked to write... Commissions are 50-50 really. And of course up to personal preferences. Some times I can slam through without needs cropping up. Other times I have to ask mini-me "WHY DO/ARE YOU LIKE THIS!?" But all I ever get is autistic screeching in response. .-. On the note of hands. Furry hands, feet, antlers, so many things that are just hard to make look good, EVER. Especially in specific poses. As a durr, I know a lot of artists hate me the moment I say I have antlers. XD My other sonas being squirrel, or sergal, with those long spindly fingers, yea no. I don't have much art of myself for a reason. I don't like subjecting artists to torture. .... Unless they are into that sort of thing. *shrug* Buoyancy of personal aquatic vessels and so forth.

@earth88_ it is neurological, but the brain ultimately controls everything and maybe it doesn't cause chronic pain for me but it comes with other debilitating symptoms (psychosis and fugue states lasting hours, cardiac arrhythmias, spontaneous and persistent sensations, Todd's paralysis) not to mention med side effects (rage, sedation, hyponatremia, bone and tooth decay, liver damage, etc) it's really an all encompassing disorder that frequently masquerades as any number of other disorders.

Artist here. Not a furry but at the beginning of my career I did draw some more adult stuff for a couple clients. Honestly it was very technical, Iike drawing naked people in art school. Your mind is way too busy thinking about how to shade better, proportions, looking for deffects and etc... it goes to a analistic artistic state so nothing is plain sexual, is the same as drawing a simple classic portrait for me. Now, if you have to google references that is a different thing, because than you have to jbasically search for porn for a long period of time.

As an artist that has taken nsfw commissions before, how "distracting" it gets tends to vary from one drawing to the next, but really its when you're coming up with the idea that its really at its worst, and once you actually put pen to paper its a lot less "damn this is so hot" than it is "god damnit I cant draw this boob right". Basically when you're drawing smut, you're too focused on making sure you're drawing it right to really think about what you're drawing like that

A biologist on the Discovery show Naked & Afraid cultivated tomatoes by eating a whole tomato the night before he was dropped in. He crapped the seeds out, water & cultivated them and a few weeks later he had garden full of blooming tomato plants. They had fresh produce in a jungle that didn't have much. It was so cool. I completely missed that. I was distracted by computer brains (chips) being made with gold because it is really good for electrical conductivity. Say the customer wants carpeted floors instead of tile or wood, or when they're getting a dagger custom made, and they want _this_ engraving on the handle instead of _that_ engraving. It basically boils down to "the customer likes what the customer likes", or at least that's my understanding.

I think the NSFW art reaction varies from artist to artist. Some artists do it dead faced with no reaction, while others get excited. In my experience, I do react to my own work, but the actual technique of the art is a bigger focus while it's getting made.

One month, the contest theme was "water," and then they gave us a bunch of suggestions to get people's minds rolling on ideas: "Aquariums, lakes, waterfalls, watersports, aquatic gardens..." I saw "watersports" in that list and my mind screeched to a halt. I swear I heard the chalkboard noise. My submission was a build for a public restroom, complete with urinals on one wall, stalls on the other, and sinks with mirrors over them along the back wall. You had to walk up a kind of "hallway" between the urinal section and the stalls to get to the sinks. I placed an NPC in the house, up near the sinks, and then titled the house "[NPC's Name] Favorite Sports Are Watersports." I got so many messages about that build, and won a prize for "most unexpected interpretation of the theme." Since, you know, they'd meant things like waterski and surfing and boating and the like.

What kind of stuff do you do? ^_^ I've got three series myself, mostly post-transformation (I guess technically all three are post-transformation, depending on how you look at it) stuff because there's just so little exploration of that. There is one "spicy bit" in one of my stories, but honestly I'm probably going to edit that out (and put it in a separate post) because it doesn't really fit the rest of my stuff. "Princess Tells Her Story" is about someone getting turned into a feral dragoness (large dog sized) and being a pet to someone who starts learning magic, and the two go on adventures in both the magical world of Terra and the world of Earth. The boundary between worlds weakens and starts tearing every thousand years or so, and large Chaos Storms are sweeping across both worlds, leaving destruction in their wake. But sometimes, just occasionally, something lost in one ends up passing through and coming out of another, which is the case for Princess, a human from Earth who ran afoul of a mad wizard before being rescued by a kind man named Tola. Initially pretending to be his pet in public to keep people from freaking out, and because she legally is his property after "Tola" defeated the mad wizard and claimed his tower and estate, she decided she rather likes the arrangement and requested to make it a full-time thing, and the two have grown closer together as they overcome challenges and settle into a life neither ever predicted. Book 1 is pretty episodic, since I was just starting out and wasn't sure if each chapter would be my last, but I grew more confident and willing to go for longer storylines. (There's also some stuff I set up but never followed through on, I just never got around to it, so Book 1 is the most in need of a rewrite. It's also the one with the spicy bit.) Book 2, the pair end up on Earth trying to get home, and in Book 3, an Insane God is causing trouble for them and the small town from Book 2 (and thus threatening the friends they made there). "Exodimensional Hoofbun Flopsy" is about a Hoofbun (rabbit/horse hybrid) created on Terra as a "Living Construct" who gets stuck on Earth, and becomes the local cryptid/superhero, while trying to figure out what it means to be an independent person instead of a loyal servant. I like this one because I get to be a little more "over the top" and silly, as it's a comic book in text form (and the title is even supposed to evoke that same sort of feel as an anime/video game splash screen intro for someone). Takes place in the same "Earth/Terra" setting as Princess, but the two stories don't really interact, and I try to make it so someone doesn't have to read one to understand the other. Flopsy's Master, unable to successfully create a second Living Construct after Flopsy, turns his attention to finding a way to protect people from the Storms. But during an experiment, he's murdered by a cultist of the Sightless Third Eye, an organization devoted to eliminating magic and getting it back out of the hands of mortals. This causes Flopsy to get pulled through to Earth, where she disguises herself as a human (using a spell stored in her collar), but when she stumbles across someone being mugged, she uses her hoofbun form to fight crime. She's something of a "demonstration model prototype", so she's got enhancements like magically-increased strength, toughness, healing, and so on. Except now the internet has dubbed her "The Superbunny", something she finds endlessly embarrassing. And in Book 2, she fights her Evil Twin! Because what's a superhero story without an Evil Twin arc, right? And "Modern Major Yinglet" is about a non-magic modern Earth setting where the main character gets turned into a yinglet (fictional species from the comic "Out of Placers" by Valsalia) and has to deal with a world that is very much not made with a three-foot-tall rat-weasel-on-stilts in mind. Martin "Mary" Shendale, a trans girl with major health problems living in a tiny run-down apartment, gets a package at her door one day, containing a remarkably accurate recreation of "Zhat Zhing", the mysterious object in the comic that turned the main character into a female yinglet. More accurate than she thought, as it bursts in her face, and she finds herself much shorter and sporting a tail with a large tuft of hair at the end. Now a female yinglet herself, she takes on the name Vayryn as she tries to navigate life in a world made for humans. But at least being rebuilt at the cellular/genetic level cured her conditions. Now she has to manage a Twitter feed, deal with a growing fanbase, make money through freelance programming (At least she can normally stick to email and pretend to be human), make friends and keep herself sane, and make it through life no matter how much the Universe wants to kick her. I tried to write this one so that someone didn't have to read the comic to follow the story, but the comic is great and I recommend it anyway. (The one reader I've talked to who has read the story but not the comic says they didn't feel lost, so hopefully I did a good enough job.) Princess is up to 33 chapters (starting Book 3), Flopsy is up to 18 (starting Book 2), and Vayryn is up to 11 (though is mostly eschewing a "book" structure and more "slice of life" than "adventure").

Unfortunately uni has killed my joy of writing for some time now and I didn´t put most stuff online because after abandoning some projects I just decided to only show my stuff to other people if I know I´m gonna finish the story, but apart from a bunch of high fantasy short stories ranging from the genretypical adventure stuff to more slice of life concepts I have started a post apocalyptic story about choosing compassion over pragmatism, wrote a short cyberpunk 2077 fanfiction where I experimented with a second person protagonist and also not using any pronouns for any of the other characters, but unfortunately that one got very rapey, another fanfiction shipping two historical figures from a research paper I wrote in the writing style of one of their scribes and before I lost my motivation I was about three chapters deep in a semi historical erotic story about four very horny ficitonal characters in 8th century Constantinople that I hope to be able to pick up again some time.
