I like that the anxiety attack comic showed one coming on during what many people would consider a very relaxing activity. It's a disorder: it doesn't matter how relaxing the activity is. If your body says we're charging into battle now there's not a lot your brain can do to convince it otherwise. And Click is right--if this is something you're dealing with, I assure you there are people out there who completely understand what you're going through and want to help. Even if you're just typing it out on a forum for people with anxiety disorders that's still far better than bottling it up and saying nothing.

That panic attack comic was all too relatable. I've made those calls before. I usually ask them to stay on the line with me and to call 911 if I lose consciousness. I've never passed out, but every single time it happens, I'm so certain it's something serious this time. I'm definitely dying this time. I can't shake that belief no matter how hard I try. Even telling myself it's okay to die and trying to make peace with it doesn't work. It still feels terrifying and painful and absolutely awful. Thankfully it's physically impossible to stay in that heightened state forever so I eventually crash. It always passes eventually.

14:54 also fun fact! We lose heat through the bottoms of our feet, so keeping a foot outside of the blanket acts like a heat mitigator for those among us that heat up like the core of a sun when we sleep! It’s one of the reasons our feet are so important to keep dry and warm in cold temps. Top of the head, the chest, and the feet IIRC. Also your feet are the some of the furthest parts of the body from your heart and your body will have no issue pulling blood from them and even losing them to keep you alive in extreme cold! Hence extreme frostbite and limb loss! Yay! Learning!

@@Adamcito. it could have to do with airflow. Sleeping facedown means breathing through fabric, causing you to technically work harder to breathe. Couple that with warm air AND warm breath being caught in the fabric causing it to heat up and it’s likely acting as a 1-2-3 combo for hot, sad, sleepy times. I generally cover my face when I’m sick under the covers to create more humid air than the dry air from the ac. It helps me breathe easier but makes me hot faster. I’m not expert but maybe it has something to I do with that?

As a furry AND an aspiring biologist, I think the one at 32:06 has to do with fursuits; Fullsuits (the ones that have the whole body covered) are generally divided into digitigrades and plantigrades: Plantigrade suits don't really have as much padding, if any, and the legs have a very general bipedal look not really differing from our own legs. Digitigrade suits make use of various padding and shaping of the suit parts and give the suit a more animalistic posture. When we're talking about biology, the difference between digitigrades and plantigrades is the posture of the feet: Digitigrades, such as cats and dogs, stand on their toes, while plantigrades, like humans and squirrels, have their feet planted flat on the ground (heels down and touching the ground). There's also a third type; unguligrades, which are animals walking on hooves. Digitigrade fursuits are named that because they generally aim to give the suit this toe-standing look if that makes sense. In reality the suiter stands pretty much normally, which is why the paws and legs are so huge. Oh yeah and also! If this makes you wonder where cats' and dogs' heels are, it's the part where the leg gets thinner after the thigh. When they're sitting, the heels touch the ground. Their knees are also easier to notice while sitting, and it's the part of the hind leg that makes a sort of a curve.

18:48 there was a fantasy book series I read as a kid, "Children of the Red King", which was about this school with the good and evil magic descendants of a powerful wizard. And one of the villains was a shapeshifter who got so old, that they FORGOT their original form. So, to keep a base form, they kidnapped someone to consistently steal their appearance and personality. They were rather terrifying, conceptually.

According to the lore, a pony can't end up with a cutie mark they don't like. One of the things that the magic of it is supposed to take into account is that what the mark symbolizes is something the pony is passionate about. As in something they have an interest in and enjoy doing. Additionally, the mark is supposed to be symbolic and open to interpretation. Ponies with similar cutie marks can have different meanings. For example, there is a group known as The Flower Trio -- Roseluck, Lily, and Daisy -- who all have flowers for cutie marks, representing their gardening skills. There is also the Spa Twins -- Aloe and Lotus -- who have lotus blossoms for their cutie marks, which somehow connects to their skills at the spa. Then finally there is Cheerilee, an elementary school teacher whose cutie mark is smiling daisies, which represent her love of teaching (nurturing young minds and helping them grow). There's more to it, but I think this makes my point enough.

If I remember correctly, it was addressed in the series with Applebloom, who was scared, that she will end with a cutie mark, that will leave her unhappy for any reason, like not being an apple-based mark, thus making her an outcast of her family, or it will separate her from her friends or Cutie Mark Crusaders' duties. In the end her cutie mark both united her with Crusaders and incorporated apple for her family bonds, while also marking her (pun intended) a cutie mark specialist, able to help others to find theirs. So, in the end, cutie mark is more about excelling in something you feel rewarding to do. Also, that pony has literal peach and eggplant, so it could be his talent with growing fruits and vegetables, all suggestiveness aside.

We find ways to cope, usually. I can't speak for anyone else, but panic can definitely creep up on me, especially when I've been under prolonged stress (no matter how mild! just existing with ADHD is often enough). If I can notice the warning signs before a panic attack really kicks in, there are usually things I can do to stop one before it's fully started or make it more manageable. (Personally, I like the 54321 method, playing Hades, and grounding myself by holding a cup of hot tea or wrapping up in something fluffy.) I do have to have a chair in the kitchen just in case, though. Always got to make sure there's somewhere I can sit if need be.

For the record about cutie marks, they do explain in the show that it’s a little more deep than just something you’re good at. It’s like a symbol that represents *you*. It only appears after you come to an understanding of who ‘you’ are. You don’t even have to be good at whatever it represents, nor does it have to be an activity. So for clicky thiccy, it would probably be something related to entertainment, or spreading joy. Like a firework or something, also displaying his extroverted personality. Yes, I watched my little pony. Gen 4 was one of my comfort shows while it was still being made. Sometimes you just need some low key fun to get away from the drama of real life. Besides, that series is actually a lot better than most of the other shows in its field.

I discovered I'm a bit of a furry thanks to Click's FurryIRL videos, not because I was exposed to this stuff (My favorite Disney movie has been Robin Hood since the first time I saw it), but because he managed to help me get past the stigma and gave me the courage to investigate myself in that direction. Thank you for helping me learn a bit more about myself, Click 😸

Click, you should know, that while both awful and therapy can help etc etc etc, panic attacks and anxiety attacks are actually very different. What you described sounds like an anxiety attack, you can usually feel these coming and they are (imo who has had both) easier to cope with. Panic attacks are extremely sudden and extremely nerve wracking, and depending on the individual can even be a complete shut down of the body all at once without warning.

For what it’s worth, anxiety attacks aren’t a clinical term like panic attacks, so the difference is really only in onset and perceived intensity. Anxiety is also a common feature of panic disorder, so the two do tend to occur together.

I feel like it's hard to put certain things into one camp though. There are a lot of gray areas. The first ever attack of this nature (happened when I was 11) started off slow, with me feeling the physical symptoms. Throat closing up, hyperventilating, chest tightness, light-headedness, etc. And it just kept building. It happened in class, randomly. I ended up going to the nurse's office and while I sat there I just remember the anxiety, the panic, and the nurse asked me about who to call while she looked through my file. Next thing I know my chair was moved to the center of the room, an oxygen mask was being put on me, and the paramedics breathed a sigh of relief. I had no clue that I fainted until years later when I discussed that story with my mom. I just thought it was a weird lapse in memory because of the panic.

15:20 this really hits hard. After hearing that my aunt was passing away and i had one last chance to see her i had absolutely no way to comprehend that ive never had someone pass away before even though i was around 14 back then. she meant everything to me she was basically a second mother to me. I would sleep over all the time, bake with her, watch movies, play board games, play xbox, put up winter decorations, work on school project. But in the end i never took thay chance to see her one last time when my parents asked me, i just kept playing my game. I feel so guilty for that i want to cry im having such a hard time writing this i will always live with this guilt maybe i was scared to see such a strong woman that has beat breast cancer (i think it was that) several times over the years to be almost unrecognizable (from what my mom told me) in her state. That's just how languages evolve and change over time, though! I personally think it's the coolest thing, but I'm into linguistics. Basically the only languages that don't change and adopt new words as they're needed are ones that aren't spoken anymore. English just found itself needing a way to say that without using the OG word. But because social media is such a big part of our lives - and especially how we communicate with each other - it got adopted really quickly. This happens all the time, but it used to take longer without the internet. Think of how you'd probably call a child something like kid, when that didn't always mean that; kid used to exclusively mean a baby goat, but our language changed it to have a secondary meaning because of how people were using it. If you pay attention, this will even happen if you start hanging out around new friends, or if someone in your friend group starts using words or phrases the rest of you don't use. It's really fun, especially because sometimes you'll just be talking and slip into a word you basically stole from someone else's vocab without even thinking about it. Like, I have a friend who would always shorten friend to fran, and now I often use that myself. I personally think it's a social thing??? Like, humans are very social, and using the same words as your cohorts helps you fit in and be understood better! So it makes sense that we'd do this. It's becoming so widespread because it's just starting to be mutually accepted as the new word for that. We didn't really have a "casual" word for that for day to day conversation, only the really serious depressing sounding one that would weigh down convos. So we needed a more casual way to refer to that. And to *really* make it more likely for it to be commonly used, the topic is coming up more and more as awareness of mental health issues increase. So basically our need for a word aligned perfectly with when a new one was naturally being made online to avoid demonetization. Just great timing, basically. Sorry for the paragraphs, I nerded out a bit.

15:21 this one hit hard. I remember when my grandma passed away. I was 12 and obviously knew about death and been to funerals but never for anyone I was super close to. My grandma had had a heart attack, it was mild, she survived that but had to stay in the hospital for a few days. The day my mom went to pick her up to bring her home, she asked if I wanted to come with. I was big into baseball cards at the time, and had just gotten a bunch of them from somewhere. I said no, I was gonna stay home with my dad and sort them. I'd see her when she got home. A few hours later, my mom called and told my dad to bring me and my sister to the hospital, that my grandma had passed away (a blood clot that had started in her leg and shot up to her heart when she went to stand up). I saw her lying in the hospital bed and, I dunno, maybe it was shock and guilt but I just remember feeling nothing. All through cleaning out her house and the funeral and everything, I didn't cry. I just found other things to focus on. Five years after she passed, I found a stuffed toy she had given me when I was way little and, finally, I broke down into painful sobs over losing her. The day she passed, I shoved my card collection under my bed. I still have the box of them, I think, but to this day I haven't opened them to look at them. I'm 37, now.

19:00 - Honestly, the concept of a shapeshifter/changeling character with a kind of persistent dysphoria is pretty great. They never felt right in their own skin, and no matter how they change the feeling has been picking away at their sense of identity. But then one day they take some random form and realize that one of their hands is _actually_ their hand. It's the hand they were always meant to have, and so they begin going on a quest looking for others who have a hand like theirs so they can learn more about who they really are.

Exactly, it basically impossible for a cutie mark to be something bad. The exact form it takes could at worst maybe be a little embarrassing later in life, but it would still always represent something positive. One of my favorite examples of this, albeit admittedly fanfic, was a royal guard who had a plush teddybear for his cutie mark. Early on the other guards would tease him about being too "soft" to be a guard, but he just explained how when he was little and scared of the dark his teddy always made him feel safe. His teddy bear had protected him as a child, and now that he was all grown up it represented his desire to protect everyone else.

My first major panic attack happened when I moved back to Texas after my best friend passed away. I was going to a welcome home party with his widow and another of our best friends. The apartment was large, but all the people, plus being mostly by myself for 18 months living out of state, made it seem super tiny. And all the comparisons they kept making between me and my best friend. Yeah, we grew up together and spent years living together. Of course we would have the same mannerisms and speech pattern. I couldn't breathe, my heart was racing and felt like it was going to burst out of my chest, I was extremely dizzy. Took a while to calm down once I got outside. Had to be driven home by my friend. Since then I've had a few panic attacks of varying degrees. I self medicated for a long time with cannabis and it helped mostly.
@ItzToastyOfficial
@ItzToastyOfficial 7 ай бұрын
11:00 I can relate to the panic attacks. It always happens in every day life, as I have had a few recently, despite being mostly extroverted. For example, one that happened a while ago, I was doing the subpar task of holding open a door for people that were entering building, and out of nowhere, I feel my heart start beating faster, and my face gets hot. My eyes start stinging as I realize I am about to start crying. I had a panic attack, by holding a door open for people. Panic attacks are invisible to people, just find someone you trust and talk to them, have them be there. It can last a while, but as long as you have someone you like with you, you'll be okay.

Not quite. It's actually just an illusion of being on tip toes. (It's an extremely common technique in fursuit creation; you get the look while maintaining safety and wearability for the user.) That said, I can't skateboard period, and any time you add a fursuit to the mix you're making things harder just by virtue of how suits fit and move. It's still really impressive to me that this person is doing this in their fursuit!!!

15:16 I was a kid when 9/11 happened, and I didn't fully comprehend it. I wasnt scared or anything, even tho I watched people running and scared on tv. I didn't put it together that people were dying or what war meant. My mom was understanding and said she felt the same when she was a child the Vietnam War was happening. But now, as an adult, it makes me realize how the small groups of people we have in power over our country greatly effect every aspect of our lives and they have no real respect for that power. Some small child somewhere cant comprehend why people are breaking into schools and killing people. To them thats just life and I think thats terribly sad.

The Runalong (a wonderful name given to these creatures by the internet) was created with the invention of fast transportation. Those who have ridden as a passenger in any fast mode of transportation has thought up these beings running alongside the car in the expanses of the landscape beside the trail ahead. These strange spirit-like beings form themselves in many ways. Some report them to be humanoid, some more like wolves or cheetahs. But one of the most common description is their silhouetted appearance, with a lack of defining features.

I think it's fair to say that Death is a secondary villain - his goal is literally to kill Puss. He's not part of the "shared main plot" but he's very much the antagonist of Puss' own character arc.

@@hoodiegal I'd second what @strangevol5264 is saying. He's definitley an antagonist but not a villian. Yes, he goal is to kill Puss....but he is DEATH...it's kinda the whole point of Death. It's no more evil or good than an innanimate object. Hence my point that he's neutral. A villian is supposed to be bad/evil/cruel/wicked. From what we see of Death, he gets a number of chances to take out Puss but opts to preach about how he wasted his previous lives, instead. For me, that was a very subtle edge to the character. After all, Death makes Puss decide to cherish his last life.....and he seems to be pleased about it right at the end.

10:50 I describe mood disorders as, "emotion-hallucinations" - instead of hearing voices or seeing things that aren't there, you _feel_ emotions that aren't there, emotions that have no cause. Yet, because you're having an emotional response to something that doesn't exist instead of seeing something that isn't there, that … somehow makes it okay to dismiss? I suffer from a depressive mood-disorder, BTW. Have since I was 7. Went untreated until I was 23. Been under control now for 30 years. The weird thing about mood disorders is that your brain will _try_ to come up with a reason why you're experiencing these emotions. But, because _there actually is _*_NO REASON_*_ for them,_ your brain latches onto any reason at random, and keeps changing the reason it latches onto. Also, we may name the mood disorder after the most prominent "hallucinated-emotion", but the disorder actually affects a whole slew of emotions. Depressive mood-disorders include not only sadness, but also includes pain, hopelessness, misery, guilt, _loss_ of motivation, _loss_ of joy, _loss_ of enjoyment … yes, in a depressive mood disorder, you also _lose access_ to a bunch of emotions, in addition to feeling other emotions for no reason. I can't speak to anxiety disorders, however, because I don't experience them. Does it screw up other emotional pathways? Anyone who suffers from it care to chime in?

@@John_Weiss If this description helps you, sure use it for yourself, but it's not true for everyone. I have bipolar disorder and my episodes sometimes start out of the blue, but MOST times it has a reason. Some kind of trigger, stress, event that my brain reacts to and make me have an episode. Events such simple as light changing from winter to spring can be a reason, or more heavy stuff like a family member dying, a medication change etc. I see my bipolar disorder as an illness that gets triggered, and while the emotions aren't proportionate to the event, the episode break out still has a reason. This is the case for most people with bipolar disorder. And btw, hallucinations often don't come out of the blue either. They come more frequently when you're stressed, sleep-deprived, skipped your anti-psychotic medication etc. So I understand what you're trying to say, that your depressive thoughts and feelings aren't the truth or a normal response to your environment, but it feels like you don't quite understand the mechanisms of either mood disorders or hallucinations...

I have generalized anxiety disorder. The way I describe my anxiety is a constant, neverending fight or flight response. When something stressful does happen, it gets way worse. I'm medicated though, so even if I'm having really bad anxiety I can power through it. With therapy I learned to rationalize the situations I'm in, which helps to remind me that it's in my head and nothing bad will actually happen. Thankfully I'm incredibly stable now, and am finally gaining some confidence. I hope this gives you a little insight on the anxiety side of things :)

Panic attacks won't go away in a short time, but it's possible to get better. I had bad panic attacks after getting burned out from work. I started having them several times a week, my own bed was my biggest cause of fear, so I couldn't sleep. My mom just told me to get a hold of myself, but luckily my friend (current partner), pulled me mostly out of it in about a year. I had support, I talked with a psychologist for some tips to heal and worked on my fears. In short: You can overcome them, but it takes a lot of time, work and in the best case scenario: someone who walks you through it with you.

Re: panic attacks, one trick I've had recommended to me is if you feel it coming on, deliberately tense up as if you're about to fight something off, and then release after about ten seconds. One theory about why panic attacks happen is that its related to a part of our brains that we haven't really used since caveman times (but haven't entirely lost) that was responsible for keeping us aware of threats like tigers, lions, etc. We no longer have as much need of awareness for these types of threats, but our brains still have those senses and will sometimes treat random things like a dangerous, impending threat, sometimes even resulting in a panic attack. Tensing yourself up as much as much you can for a moment essentially tricks that part of your brain into thinking that you're fighting off the threat, and then releasing the tension tricks it into thinking the threat has passed and you've survived. Now it's worth noting that this might not always work, especially if it comes on suddenly or you're already dealing with the panic attack (in which case: deep breaths, being on the phone with someone you trust, counting to yourself, all highly recommended), but if you feel it starting to creep up on you, there are ways to avert it or reduce the effect. TLDR; if you want to prevent an incoming panic attack, pretend you're fighting a vicious tiger alongside your ancestors for a moment.

This reminds me of my own "technique" I call "have a cookie." Have a cookie, but don't eat it. Place it in your mouth, between your teeth and hold it there without biting down. Eventually - you will bite down and doing so functions as a sort of release, reminding you that you are a human who eats and whatever you're feeling is temporary.
