It's amazing how cheap 3D printers have improved in value and speed recently, double Z, direct drive, networking, very good bed leveling and hi speed for 200.

One of these days if you run out of ideas to review , reviewing 3d printing accessories like air purifiers, filament driers or whatever useful accessories you have found useful would be great. I really appreciate all your efforts and you are making a difference in the 3d hobby world for sure.

Creality engineers worked hard to get to that $199 MSRP with most of the modern features we want. They did a great job of eliminating cost and complexity (no bed leveling knobs) without adversely impacting the capabilities. As expensive as cable is, I wish manufacturers would switch to a 4 conductor continuous flex rated cable to the extruder instead of a large ribbon cable. CANbus or some similar serial interface could be used and still be less expensive than ribbon cable and connectors. This would allow the cabling to stay the same for new printers as features are added such as LEDs on the print head, an optical filament runout sensor (mere pennies) at the top of the extruder where it's completely painless, etc.

Great Review. It's not rated for it but I had great success printing abs in an enclosure with it also. I Love this Machine. Got mine on the 9th of August and has been printing Great. Only issue was the 1 of 2 cover hold down screws above the y-axis linear rail was clipping when printing. Replaced with a flush screw problem solved. Already racked up 200 hours on her and still going well.

Thank you for another great review. This looks like a very good machine for the price, but the only other 'con' thatI see is that it still has a PTFE tube in the extruder/hotend. Perhaps since this printer is designed for beginners, Creality thought it was better to have the printer designed for lower temperature filaments. Do you think it would be easy to fit an all-metal heat break to this hotend?
@davidboop3550 Жыл бұрын
I was about to be super poo poo on this printer and say it doesn't do this and it doesn't do that. But I took a step back. This is $200 and this is kind of everything you need for a beginner and I'm not a beginner. This printer wasn't meant for me, I completely agree with you about the filament run out sensor and if this printer is geared for beginners rookies will make that mistake. I've done that twice, when I first started. I just wish it went to 300° on the hot end but now that I have printed for as long as I have, only 3 years though, plus 260 isn't really needed on an open frame printer in my opinion, but there are so many enclosure solutions now that are cheap. That's why I'm a stickler for the 300. Epic review.

Hi, I'm totally lost in the different offerings of Creality (and competitors) 500 USD printers. What I'm looking for is a printer that can just print after an initial setup. I would not tinker it all day nor look for mods, but just print with the best quality and resolution possible. Speed is no factor but building area is key, the higher the better. I was recommended the Ender-3 but I wasn't told the exact model. Based in my research the Ender-7 was attratcive, but it seems like it's sub-par on quality. Now I'm looking at the Ender-3 S1 Plus, but also the S1 Pro has some features I can't tell if I need (and less building area). I'd use it for longer prints, 1..2 per week for small series product printing. Always the same choice of (PLA?) filament. Any ideas are welcome! Cheers :D

2:34 " a GD chip" really? I heard people were able to flash klipper to this machine though and I thought you needed a STM chip to flash a new FW so are there newer revision or (older ones) that ship with the STM chip or is it like in the ender 3 days where it is kind of a crap shoot on which chip your board will have? I am not going to flash klipper to this machine and have no interest right now but if klipper ever supports the strain gauge and auto Z offset some day I might want to consider it. I would be more interested in adding a strain gauge to older printers like my ender 3 pro or v2 neo if klipper or a custom version of marlin could support it but I am not sure if thsat woud be possible. I did see another review of his printer where the reviewer said you should be able to remove the stran gauge from the V3 SE and add srpings or silicone spacers and leveling knobs to it, which made me think that the reverse would also be true and that we could remove leveling knobs from other ender 3 models and add a stain gauge to add auto Z offset tot he ose older printers if we had a FW to support it.

Creality has the legacy and brand recognition to do it. With that new Kobra 2 Pro out it so hard to decide which pros and cons you can accept. Roller bearings on the X axis, and with the backing of the Creality community this would be a budget beast if there was input shaping from the get-go. With Bambu Lab starting the next gen trend of 3D printing, I do wish to see a bedslinger I can still say I would purchase today. My 1st printer was the Aquila X2 which is pretty much the Ender 3 V2. S3 V3 software is buggy and the screen control knob is ignored a lot of the time till the current task it's doing is finished. During setups, you have little clue as to what it's actually doing as there's no indication of the state of the task on the screen. You have no indication on the menus whether the option is the actual task or a link to a submenu. Some "are you sure" questions would be nice there. A fair amount of work is needed to clean it up. When printing, it is quiet and reasonably fast but bed warming is very slow.
