My mom made fried corn using frozen corn, milk, butter, salt and pepper. Boiled until almost dry. The milk and butter solids clung to the corn. It was always gone by meal end. Grew up on field corn. Mom would blanch and freeze on cobb.

I grew up on field corn, in IL. We'd go down the road to the farmer's field and pick it. He let a few families do it. I'd pick his wild berries too. Some of the families where my grand parents lived have probably been there 100 plus years. I went to my other great grandma's and I'd pick peaches, pecans, walnuts and apples out of her orchards.

I grew up eating field corn..... sometimes we had it for breakfast with hot biscuits. Sometimes we would put it in the oven in the rack and roast it. It would be chewy and nutty. I was grown before we had sweet corn. I freeze quite a bit every year. I use microwave to freeze it and also to cook it. Never scorches like it does in pot.

I agree with you about canned cream corn. I only use it for a corn casserole adding one can kernel corn. My mother made skillet fried corn from fresh corn with the bacon grease. I know people nowadays say that's probably bad for you but, that's the way her grandmother made it & it's not much bacon grease. After all, bacon makes everything better. 🥓

Oh my I can almost smell the goodness. I still prefer field corn to the other stuff they sell now (had to be Truckers Favorite white corn too). As a kid I thought the canned stuff was strictly for fish bait! Momma always did the cutting off part until she broke her shoulder, then it was passed to me. Never tried it with a serrated blade before, I just use a regular knife, my addition to the process was to use the back of the blade for scraping, it meant less knife sharpening. I will give my serrated knife a go next time. Thanks for the idea.

I just ordered a stainless steel corn shucker and milker should be in the mail today probably a lot of people don't know when you cut the corn off the cob they leave the milk on the cob and that is the best part of the Corn especially when you're doing fried corn you don't want to leave that milk behind but of course that applies to a country so they think you're crazy until they eat it then they have a different frame of mind LOL

That looks so good !! My family and I loves corn . Especially my son and my 7 yr old granddaughter . Miss Tammy , I remember one time my family and I went to my mama's for Christmas one year and my stepdad's mama had cooked some field corn . I walked in the house and I was thinking what's that smell ? Smelt like dirty feet . lol !! I fixed my plate and sat down at the table. I put a bite of that corn in my mouth and I looked up across the table at my brother in law and he just shook his head . I couldn't eat it . I had to spit it out . I didn't realize it was that corn . It had soured and she cooked it anyway. Oh my word .... I'll never forget that . I didn't want to say anything, bc I didn't want to hurt her feelings . I guess she couldn't smell it bless her heart . But we normally LOVE field corn !!! I just had to share that story with you . My husband and I get tickled every time we think about corn on the cob. lol !! Thank you Miss Tammy for sharing another wonderful video with us !!
