Great video as always Dom. Yes, this is a killer feature in Cubase 11 Pro, and I am starting to use it more and more to find instrumentals for re-mixes. The one thing I would love for Cubase to introduce, is what I can do with the instrumental track in Studio One 5, where it can detect the chords from the audio track, as I this helps with creating re-mixes with virtual MIDI instruments that can follow the chord track. Maybe in the next Cubase upgrade?? Thank you for sharing. Peter

Great video for a great feature. I don't use cubase but do seek out acapellas and create completely different and new songs. It's not easy getting good clean acapella that an artist or record company have not otherwise made available to you. This is easy enough to take most composite audio and extract clean vocals to work with.

I am using RX for years, but since I am Cubase user for 25 yrs and more, having Spectral Layers in DAW teased me to look deeper. Thing is, SL is Steinberg product and integration was somewhat logical, but still it does make Cubase the only daw with this feature built in.

Hey Dom, I use the unmix vocals feature all the time in 11 Pro to create backing tracks for working on vocals. Spectralayers is an impressive application! But it’s functionality is also pretty ‘opaque’...there isn’t much out there for teaching new users the basics. Perhaps master teacher, Dom Sigalas, could do a video on Spectralayers! 🤪

Fantastic video dom. Been watching your channel and the stuff you do on cubase for a while. I have been using fl studio for a fair few years now and still like it, however I got a crossgrade deal this month for cubase 11 pro and I finished a tune and have done exactly the same things as I would do on fl studio with eq and side chain etc and exported with same settings. What I don't understand is why does the mastered and finished mp3 sound noticeably better with cubase? I have tried through krk 7" monitors, senheiser headphones and even a Bluetooth sony speaker. The difference in quality with the cubase export is the difference of having a mastered song compared to an un mastered song! Anyway although I will still use fl studio a lot im so happy I bought cubase 11 Pro for under £200. I will never mix and master in fl again after seeing what cubase does. If anyone knows why the finished master mix sounds so much better from cubase then I would love to know why it is.

Cubase 11 has Spectral Layer 7 pro included. And so does Magix Samplitude pro X6. In fact, Spectral Layers was always included with Samplitude pro X3 and onwards.

Hi Dom. I've been using your rather excellent 80s Drum kit (for which I tank you very much) . A couple of questions.... 1. When I dissolve the MIDI into separate tracks I get a bunch of tracks which appear to have something on them, but don't. Muting them seems to make no difference to my drum track. Why are they there? 2. I've tried to render the drums to audio, but they won't. Why is this? Other drums in Groove Agent will. Thanks for an answer when you've time. Great feature I'm already thinking about the pro version for more editing features.
