Great idea. I'm curious, how has this held up over time- specifically with heat? I know these docks and drives tend to generate a ton of heat once in use and wonder if stacking them like this could potentially damage them or if the heat syncs built-in are enough?
@BevelishCreations3 жыл бұрын
Hey great question. I actually have not had any overheating issues at all, and I use this for hours everyday. I was thinking of cutting some slots to the sides of the holders for the dock if it became hot, but it hasn’t been an issue. By the way, I’m a huge fan of your content :D

Great video as usual. What you designed or the laptop is really similar to what I have been playing with in my but better. I hadn't thought about the channel to slide the mac into the holder. I was going to cut out a whole and then plug stuff in through it. However, if I need to pull the mac out quickly for something I haven't unplug everything which isn't ideal. You solved my last speed bump to doing the project. Thank you.

Not first! But that's a very cool and simple design. I like the idea of putting it under the desk. I could probably utilize the same idea and do this with my M1 Mac Mini. Minimalism at its best. :)
@BevelishCreations3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I was thinking the same when I saw someone with a Mac Mini the other day. Do you know how well it performs compared to a 16" Macbook Pro? I'm editing a lot more in 4K now, and have to convert 120fps 4K footage to proxies to edit smooth enough. Was wondering if there's a significant improvement with the M1 Mac Mini
@woogaloo3 жыл бұрын
@@BevelishCreations - I'll be honest - I don't do any type of editing on mine, but the M1 is leaps and bounds ahead of what any of the Intel stuff was. I had a 3.2ghz i7 processor in my iMac w/ 32GB RAM and it doesn't even hold a candle to my 16GB M1 Mini. Depending on what program you use - most of the normally used one (Final Cut Pro and the like) are already optimized for the M1. I watched way too many videos before buying mine and most folks did 7-10min 4K video exports in 9 minutes or so.
@BevelishCreations3 жыл бұрын
@@woogaloo oh man haha I am going to look into this then. Thanks!
@woogaloo3 жыл бұрын
@@BevelishCreations - I've been using mine for a little over a month now and I couldn't go back! It's so smooth and fast. I play FFXIV some when not playing my switch and I get around 45FPS while playing a 4K video/movie on my other monitor. I think the 16GB version is worth the extra $$ in the long run.
