Yes, having nicer tools makes things easier, faster, and more repeatable, but you don't NEED them to complete a project. I see these comments on every woodworking video, where people immediately discredit the work done because the creator has a decent shop without realizing that it takes years to acquire all of the tools. "Oh I could do that too if I spent $100k on tools." No, you could do that too with the absolute bare minimum of used tools you can get for $100 on FB marketplace or an auction and a modicum of creativity.

I can commiserate with the amount of time and mess it takes to flatten these large slabs, I recently completed a similar table, and using a router jig started well enough, and then a few hours in, became the worst process ever. :) Your desk looks just gorgeous, congrats!

Recommendation is get a under-desk keyboard tray and ur hands won't have to sit as high. Then raise the desk electronically. Then lower your monitor height so that it is at the correct height.

My laptop is hardwired too. But instead of leaving my router on the desk, I mounted a switch under my desk. It’s much smaller and easier to attach under the desk with double sided tape or Velcro

Thanks :) the chair I’m using is the Herman Millet Aeron and I love it. I used to have neck and back pains from sitting improperly, but it’s almost all gone after only a short time with this chair. I know it’s an expensive chair, but you can get it for $300-$500 on Facebook marketplace so it’s a good deal. I got mine for $350.
