We added a simple rotation motion to the center planet (we animated the z-rotation angle for that object).

You need to insert your first keyframe at frame 100. It will then maintain the same position from start of the animation until frame 100.

Just the way we added one moon, you can add another on the same orbit. We are coming up with a tutorial on atom model where we have a rotating nucleus and some electrons surrounding it. The same tutorial can be followed for planet & satellite system as well. This tutorial will be published next week 👍

I did not understand what you meant by locking the rotation. But if you want it to rotate around itself, just change the z-rotation angle in the object properties and keyframe it. Like 0 rotation at frame number 1 (with keyframe) and 360 and frame number 250 (with keyframe).

No special lighting is here. When you open default Blender scene, it has a point light. Select the light and in the light properties tab change it to a Sun type light with strength 4 or 5 (or higher like 8 or 10 if you prefer). That's all we need for this scene. If you are in Eevee you may need to additionally change the shadow properties to get a good shadow.
