Excellent series. Clearly enunciated at a moderate pace so you can easily follow along. Professional presentation. Explanation of the tools and menus, and step-by step process gave me a good overview of Sigil. Highly recommended. Thanks a lot Stephen.

great tutorial. Question: do you know how to define that Headers are always kept together with subsequent text (like Keep-With-Next in Word) in a SIGIL EPUB? THANKS

Bob, I don't have a good answer for that. I suggest that eBooks are different to print in that they flow, in a scrolling fashion. So 'keep' may not be a desired feature.

Thanks for the great tutorial ! I've noticed you first wrote your document in Word, then pasted it in Sigil and performed adjustments to allow a smooth transition to URL and be able to distribute it as an eBook. Are there any special reasons for not writing it directly in Sigil ? ...

Hi Daphane. The examples using Word and InDesign are to show what happens when you paste from a word processing software into Sigil. The series of videos is based on porting your paperback book desing (print) to an eBook format (digital). You can certainly type direct into Sigil and eliminate all the copy/paste, and consider that Word is a highly developed tool with many features that can help you when you write, whereas Sigil is a simple interface.

Daphane, you certainly can type directly into Sigil, though perhaps Word or similar is a much better editor to work with :) . With my own books, I first create them as files suitable for paperback (print,) and then produce the ePub version. So, I had all of the copy already done.

THANKx FOR THAT GREAT TUTORIAL! ONE QUESTION! I wrote my book in Kompozer (its a WYSIWYG-HTML Editor) and the problem now it is that it got very slow when i type new text. 1 I have one big folder with images, videos and a single BOOK.html site! Is it possible to insert / import it to Sigil???? What would be the easiest way to import all this text including linked Images and Videos which are linked on to the images?? 2 Another Problem would be! If i click on a image which should start a video (in external player like VLCPlayer) ther should be the option, if this video is not available in the MainFolder of the Book , it should go to a alternative KZbin Page with this video! Please tell me how is this possible??

juerhe1 I don't know Kompozer, but I do know it's a website editor. So, it seems you've created a website of your book. My recommendation is to create your book new in Sigil, copy/paste text, insert images correctly, link up videos, etc. As I talk about in one of the tutorials, this creates ePub files that can work when uploading them to an online distributor, or when your customers open your book in one of many apps and devices. Note that 'ePub 3' supports video and enhanced interactivity, so there may be more for you beyond these tutorials.

Sigil 0.9.1 release - I've added an updated video to the series that shows integrating Sigil's 'PageEdit' editor, which replaces bookview. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jaemdnlphdKXoqs
