Hello MrDabrudda, First of all, I'd like you to know that I truly appreciate the effort and time you've dedicated to make this video and more for willing to share it with the world; thank you very much. Unlike other people, I think your idea on creating tapered threads can serve as an inspiration to find our own (better?) ways towards the same purpose. And, in the same spirit of sharing what we know, allow me to add my humble experience with this challenge. Apart from using the Plane Along Path tool, as you explained, I've created a circle (in 3D Sketching) starting at the Projected vertex from which you've extended the arc. What I've gained from that was more control on the angle of the plane over which the circle was being created, I mean, I was able to make it parallel to the previous coil line for the length of the smoothing segment I wanted to set; last, before sweeping the triangular profile, I draw a construction line from the vertex (and staring point of the circle) to a point on the circle that would leave me with the desired segment of the circle that I need; this step avoids the workload on radii, angles and line lengths to obtain a desired profile. The rest is as you did which I'm very grateful for. I haven't ever produced a KZbin video but I might decide to do it for a better visualization of what I did if my explanation is not clear or understood. Thanks again and be safe.

Thank you *so* *much* for making this! I've been going crazy trying to print a 1/2" PVC NTP thread for days. It's astonishing I couldn't find an existing model. How many millions of people use 1/2 PVC?!? This technique worked really well for me. On the last step where you draw the path to make the thread disappear into the shaft, I just used a simple 3-point spline curve. Super fast and easy to adjust. I've now got a 1/2" PVC NTP male thread that screws in well and tightens. I haven't pressure tested it yet, but I will.

Yep...same frustration trying make threads for a project. I hope Fusion 360 implements an end thread feature which auto tapers threads. @fusion360

THANK YOU! I spent an hour trying to make a thread to screw an adapter into my a sconce in my new apartment. really weird thread... this did it!

Thats a nice way to create clean tapered ends! Will try it as I do a lot of custom threads in Fusion

Fusion can do this automatically.Try this: After splitting the body, select the external face and delete it. Fusion will then taper the thread end automatically.

He does split the body and then delete the external face, and it doesn't taper. Can you please explain what you mean a little better?

Decent work around for custom threads. However how do you make the female equivalent of the thread?

How do you chamfer the end of the thread.

this just shows how not ready for industry fusion really is. this is insane to just make a threaded part. this is nothing short of total failure as professional software. make an effective thread wizard! and while you're at it make real mold making tools as well.

It won't let me delete the face. 3:13

I have a problem, how to cut this custom thread in CAM software as a grooving or threading operation? I need to make a huge spiral and cut it with grooving radius insert but I cant programme it in a CAM because it wont foolow the spiral. Thanks!

@@MrDabrudda create the coil as a new body and then use the move tool to move it up and down your cylinder. Combine it with the cylinder and then use the chamfer tool to slope the thread ends into the cylinder using a .99 chamfer.
