@@TheDomLouis Our API is a Windows-specific implementation. macOS and Linux have their own versions that are largely dictated by how they work with hardware. For MIDI and audio APIs, the cross-platform solution is usually JUCE, and we're working with them.

"Data Exchange Protocol" implies that data flows both ways, and that 'data' is what is being exchanged. Not only is MIDI 1.0 a dumb, single ended protocol, with the exception of SYSEX it's sole purview is sending control messages. It is a Control Protocol, not Data Exchange. MIDI 2.0 can, of course, wear the Data Exchange moniker proudly, since that is it's raison d'être.
