The settings on the subdivision pass where you set the subd to 1, wouldn't that also affect your AO and Clay render passes as well if you set up as batch animation?
@OnMars3D3 жыл бұрын
That's correct it would apply to every render pass unless you set up different geometry that did not have the sub division applied. You could do this by creating a new geometry collection in the Render Setup.

What if you have multiple objects in the scene and you want to render and control each separately with their own passes
@OnMars3D3 жыл бұрын
You would then want to combine the Maya Render Setup with V-Ray Render Elements and Material IDs. This would give you the most control from a compositing standpoint.

@@OnMars3D what about Arnold
@OnMars3D3 жыл бұрын
Same workflows apply to Arnold as well. You would use the default Maya Render Setup and Arnold AOVs (Arnold rendered elements - Arbitrary Output Variables)

Have you used Vray object properties in this new render setup? does it work? I can't get it to work...
@OnMars3D3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you can have V-Ray Object Properties work with the Render Setup. You will need to do the following: -Create your Render Layer and make sure it's Active (Eye Icon) -Apply V-Ray Object Properties to the Object -Go to the Object Properties on the object in the Attribute Editor -Find the V-Ray Object Property you want to create an override for in the Attribute Editor -Right+Click the property and select "Create Absolute Override..." -This will create V-Ray Object Property Override in the Render Setup under the active layer Hope this helps!

How do you setup a render layer to not have a halo around it. I rendered out a car in one layer and the other elements on another and when I brought all of them into after effects my car had a white halo around it from one scene. Is the issue that the render layer had premultiply enabled? I tried ticking "straight" in after effects but the halo was still there. Do you have a tutorial explaining this or how to work around it? Thanks

@@OnMars3D I figured it out. I had to turn on "Invisible" for the HDR dome light. In the render it was multiplying the HDR image into the final rendered frame.

Why not just use the vRay passes in the Render Attribute ? This take longer than doing it in the vRay Render Attributes.
@OnMars3D3 жыл бұрын
It really depends on what you are trying to do. You could easily use V-Ray Render Attributes instead of Render Setup BUT the ideal workflow would be to combine the two. If you are just using material overrides, render attribute works well but Render Setup allows you to create collections to hide/show specific geometry, it allows you to apply specific render settings as overrides like camera settings, V-Ray Object Proprties, etc, and gives you overall more control of your render layers. Hope this clarifies things.

@@OnMars3D Correct, this works if you have more than 1 element in the scene. By having having more than one element will be much easier to creat layer to enable or deseable things. Or you create an habit 😁

how would you do a layer for just shadows?
@OnMars3D3 жыл бұрын
You would have to look into using render elements for Shadows or using the V-Ray Mtl wrapper. I cover the MTL wrapper in one of my older videos here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJy6kqeXf8mMeZo
