Create Space to Swing: Getting “Unstuck”

In this video I will guide you through how to create space in the backswing so your downswing avoids getting “stuck” or “trapped” behind your body.

Folks. I worked with Billy for several sessions this summer and fall. This lesson was the culmination of previous lessons. I am a former college golfer, now a chip shot from 70, blind in one eye, who lost distance over the years, developed a poor grip, and had NO room to let my arms work properly from inside, snatched the club inside, and had lots of face rotation through the ball.. Billy fixed all that. Billy is an excellent instructor. For the same amount as a fancy driver, I now have the basis to play pretty good golf for years ! Thanks, Billy.

I do this by thinking that my arms in the takeaway are going to 1 o'clock. Gives loads more time in the swing. It feels weird if you've spent your life dragging the club head inside and your right elbow behind you BUT when you film yourself DTL it is bang on! Good lesson and one to store, similar to Monte Scheinblum on getting your arms off your chest to stop getting stuck.

Should you do the same with the driver or swing a little flatter

Hi Raymond…the concept is the same and the swing will naturally be a little flatter because of the length of the club and the distance from the ball so it’s not something you have to worry about.
