I’m 56 haven’t really done much drawing for past 30 years just remember feeling frustrated. Watching your vids has inspired me to try again. Thanks.

I stopped doing art a few years ago because of art block that wouldn't go away post pandemic. Your videos have really helped me to start drawing again. I do a mix of Souls-borne monster design and a Tank Girl-esque toony style as well. Thumbnailing has really helped me in both far as figuring out forms, clothing ideas, and any unique features. Sketching along to your videos has me filling up a sketchbook for the first time in 4 years. Your channel is sooo underrated.

I really enjoy these thumbnailing videos. I could watch dozens of these just for the cool characters and creaturs you end up making

I so much agree, there’s something freeing about thumb-nailing as a starting phase.

Id love to see you spin of a design into a further iteration or more complete version. I like your sketchy style, and I find I can make some good thumbnails with it, but when i want to make a character instead of a creature, with more exact proportions, i find it difficult to finish without it feeling off

your voice makes me calm and I think I have watched every single video of yours at least 3 times each now. It's so weird knowing what you're about to say 45% of the time, yet there's so much information to absorb

Thank you, this was just in time! I've been struggling with sort of stylizing/cartooning anatomy. So thumbnailing along definitely helped me to just keep pushing different features and allowing myself to fail and break so-called anatomy rules. Which gave the sort of character designs I've been after

Awesome, instructive, relaxing video, I don't draw at all, I've never practiced, but I loved this,so I think I'll give it try, just watched the video twice without noticing and would watch it a third it's hypnotic in some kind of way. Greetings from Spain

i wanted to say your vids are incredible booby!! I didn't want to @ you in the discord cause I don't know if that's allowed, but you've really helped ignite my passion of art just for art sake outside of studying fundamentals! Love the vids.

I’m not sure why often reminding myself to have fun while doing this just doesn’t work and the finished product of my thumbnailing doesnt at all satisfy me. I did 10 drawings in a row and I don’t like any of them so it really frustrated me. I’m not sure if it was my energy, mood, pencil throwing me off, or something else. But you inspire me to not give up, so maybe today’s just not my day. Thank you for this video, it feels so welcoming and that I’m always able to just come back to this for easy advice.

Some days we just feel like crap, like we're not in the zone. It's okay because if you push through those days, you build up the mechanical memory of drawing and then you can bust out drawings regardless of the mood.

Thank you for the video!! I was drawing game characters I like along side you- I notice I tend to draw not loose even when I am relaxing doodling my drawings are never loose and slowly which I think is okay but i worried about no being able to draw super loose

I have a question, i think you should have answered in a video already but haven't be able to find: How do you move from drawing with guidlines to just what you need prepared for shading? I scarcely started in physical before doing all my fundamentals digitally. Now moving to physical my biggest issue is not having the guidelines show even when drawn lightly. Say i want to have a shirt drawn ontop of a body and in the light, how can i maintain that brightness when i'll have 1-3 dividing lines from my guidelines? Do you simply draw without guidlines at all till you nail it? (I naturally struggle with some porportions partiularly decending shoulders horizontally in perspective being the right length, so this seems not like a good way to do it.) Or are their other means to work with it? Is there little way around it and do i have to work my guidlines into my designs and composition or bite the bullet and use the eraser.

What does thumbnailing specifically entail? making a smaller character? A simplified version? And for what purpose does it serve?
@bobbyrebholz21832 ай бұрын
Yes exactly. It's a fast way to generate ideas. There's no need for excessive details, just line generation that can be formed into something cool, later.

Hello man! First time comentor. Lately I want to find a job, I've been studying art for over a decade, but I'm struggling with the "I'm not good enough". I don't know where to start searching for a job, if I need to do nee drawings or I can use old sketchbooks... I'm just lost man, I really want to find a job.
@bobbyrebholz21832 ай бұрын
Hey bud! I have have some brutal honesty. First, stop searching for a job in art. That's the worst approach because you're not in the mindset of searching for skills to make you better. Job seeking is something totally different and should never be the focus.
