An important note worthy of mentioning. LUTs work exclusively for adjustment layers. If you have and edited copies of the background layer or any CMD+OPT+SHFT+E layers (merged layers) it will ruin the LUT. So remember to only create a LUT of any adjustment layers. Make sure the Layer masks dont have any adjustments made in them either, so layer masks must be purely white (visible). Also, if you want consistent results from your PS LUTs, then make sure the image you edited was entirely in photoshop from start to finish. If you start an image in LR then finish in photoshop then once the LUT is saved and reapplied it will contain barely any of the adjustments made as half were done in lightroom.

@@jonathanclarke5763 Any tips on creating a LUT for an HDR color space like rec 2020 for use in a video editing program via Photoshop? I did figure out 32 bit mode is a must but it also disables some adjustment layers, so unsure If I'm on the right track.

Please make a video comparing color grading tools in Photoshop vs Lightroom. I know it's a broad topic but I can't find any video teaching this. HSL and Split Toning in Lightroom vs selective color and gradient map and hue/saturation in photoshop. I might be missing on some tools in Lightroom or Photoshop. the question is which one is better for which scenario?

Hi Unmesh, Is it possible to create a 'LUT' whereby the primary base colours of Red, Green, and Blue can be based on different shades of each base colour? For example, red becomes coral red, green becomes lime green, and blue becomes pale sky blue. The idea is that the whole image is based on a slightly different set of RGB values. I hope this is clear. Thanks, Geoff

Hello! (I love your videos just like everyone else) I'm looking for an answer to a question the internet can't seem to provide; Which PS adjustment layers do NOT export into a LUT (and which features you cannot use). For example, if I have a curves layer with a layer style 'blend if' sliders, this does not export in the LUT. There doesn't seem to be a list of clear things that work and don't in a LUT and I'm finding the trial and error pretty annoying! Insight would be great

i'm learning a ton from you thank you! a question though... if i right click/properties of most luts the file size is small. when saving out these luts in photoshop, is there any reason to save bigger? does bigger equal better quality? i've saved some luts in the 'high' setting but i don't know or can't tell much of a difference... i guess i don't understand if these are simply a set of instructions that don't need to be big or small, just simply 'communicated' to an image you are applying the lut to, in which case it doesn't matter what size the file of the lut is? i hope this question is clear... (edited to add: i DID hear you say medium is fine and large makes for huge files, what i'm NOT clear on is whether the smaller file sized luts DEGRADE an image?)
@hautehussey6 жыл бұрын
Tom Owens they don’t degrade the image, but the conversion of the adjustment layers you made to a LookUpTable might not be that accurate. So it will throw in more rounding errors to make the table simpler, if that makes sense.

When you open your color lookup file then it totally damages your photos. It does not work as we save it. It totally works differently.
@dragracingwithmary30513 жыл бұрын
If it's not working you are probably saving it incorrectly. You must have a locked background image/layer & none of the adjustment layers can have any black in them. Adjust the adjustments via opacity and/or blend mode.
