This is how I’ve been storing my supplies for over 10 years. I find that this system maximises the time you have actually to scrap book rather than spending time looking for stuff. I also donate to a care facility for their day stay craft program. Thanks for this video as you are showing something that is achievable. Many of the US based videos have these glamorous large rooms and studios that have everything matching and to me are overwhelming. i hate to think of the amount of money they have sent on the equipment/furniture etc etc that I could never afford or justify.

You are right, the matchy matchy furniture IS overwhelming!! Im in the states, but, I don't live like that, I don't craft like that. I made a lot of my own containers, buy them on sale, and use items found in our home. Now, I rarely even buy paper, unless I know I can use the whole pad/pack, and it will work together with what I have. Otherwise, just adhesives...always need that!

It took me awhile to figure out that I was a "collection" scrapbooker. Then I had to give myself permission to get rid of all the misc stuff i bought before figuring that out. And I also like certain designers and keep them next to one another. Your advice is golden!

I decided to watch this again as it is so informative. I noticed something about your shelf. You have a lovely china cup and saucer. I have one so similar. It was my Mother’s china. I knew I would never use the china so gave it to my wonderful daughter-in-law. I kept a cup and saucer. It sits on my shelf in my scraproom😊

Oh yes! I have a few sets now of china tea cups. I love the ones that are sets of 3, and made in England. The sandwich plate and then the matching cup and saucer. I use them too, mostly for my lunches when I'm at home alone. I especially love the pink and gold ones 😍 I have really purposefully not filled my shelves up to the brim with supplies, I like to keep space for pretty things including tea cup sets and swans 🥰 They make my heart happy!

I appreciate your explanation of organizing things the way you craft with them. I'm a new scrapbooker and organized my paper by size first, then color, but had a hard time finding coordinating pieces.
@CreatedByGwen Жыл бұрын
Yes... I used to sort by colour as well, but it just got a lot for me to manage. I found it so much easier to create with just the one collection and all those pieces that I know will go together without me having to think too much about it. So glad this was helpful to you, I'm so excited that you have started scrapbooking and that you found the channel. 💗

I loved this video, and my local Kmart now has limited supplies of the fridge organizer that you have used. Although these containers are generally always available, they do tend to stock more in January as this is how they are marketed. I definitely want to get a cabinet for the square clip-lock containers - a brilliant idea. The Reject Shop is also good for plastic12x12 plastic pocket envelopes with a press stud closure. I find these good for cardstock.
@CreatedByGwen Жыл бұрын
Thanks for popping by today lovely! My Kmart is the same, there were times when they had heaps and then others when they were all out... supply chain issues I guess. If you see them, grab them, they are so so good! Glad you enjoyed this video. I wasn't sure about the cabinet at first but I am so soooo glad I had that made, it's been a game changer for me, well worth the initial cost. Thanks for taking the time to leave your thoughts there, it help me and others so much.
@madeatbentwood2 жыл бұрын
Gwen, yes! That is how I want to store those clip lock containers (you have fancy pink ones, mine are just Francheville from Spotlight) on runners so they aren’t stacked. While they are designed to stack and stack well, it’s such a pain to move them to get to the one you want, put them all back again etc. Hubby isn’t much if a builder and kept telling me it couldn’t be done, so I will be showing him yours 😂
@CreatedByGwen2 жыл бұрын
I used to have mine stacked and they drove me MAD, so so crazy. They were heavy and I never wanted to put them back properly. My shelves were made by a cabinet maker, I drew a picture of what I wanted and explained it. He then took a box with him and came back a few weeks later with this beauty. The only thing I'd change is to have even more slots... so more boxes could be stored, but I'm thinking no matter how many I put in I'd want more lolol. It's been a game changer for sure. Thanks for popping by today lovely :)

Thanks so much for sharing your ideas, I love hearing how others store their supplies. I do a lot of Christmas crafting so it makes sense to keep those separate. Sometimes it's good to have those themes split off and not mixed in with everything else, but I do buy a lot of 'non themed' supplies too which is where the sort by manufacturer comes in. Thanks for popping by the channel today Lucy :)

Same! I used to only create using bits and pieces, mixing and matching supplies. Now I think, well, American Crafts (for eg.) have spent a lot of time creating this collection and making everything work together, I'll just use what is already here and curated. Thank you for your storage ideas Gwen. Just wondering where you donate any extras as i seem to have more than i will ever use - both paper and stamps etc. ?
@CreatedByGwen2 жыл бұрын
Hey Marilyn, I have done a few things with my extras. I will take them to retreat and gift them away to others, I have also sent along paper to my local kindy, nursing homes also will take supplies (paper mainly) for the residents to make cards with. I've also just dropped some off at my local thrift store. You could also put them for free on Facebook market place. :) I've even just thrown some in the recycling bin 🫢 I know some people would be horrified at that, but it is just paper after all.

💜💜💜tfs💜💜💜 I need to start purging some supplies.. where do you donate to? Like what sort of places, when we lived in SA I tried to give to my local school/kindy and they just didn't want it.. then I tried the guides, nope.... I was like wow.. ok! Boxed it all up and gave to local Salvo's in the end (that was before we moved)
@CreatedByGwen2 жыл бұрын
I have given to the local charity stores too, also try nursing homes, they often can use supplies for their residents crafts (like card making) or your local church for kids crafts during the service. I have even just put some things in the recycling. For me, it's just been good to get them gone. I don't like waste, but it can get to a point where you just need it out of the house.
