Createx needs to have you do their videos so they are clear instead of going in circles. Thx

I'd love to have your view on 4021 vs 4011 for Wicked paints, for a beginner- what to watch out for, etc. I started with AutoAir/ Createx 20 years ago on bicycles, but have taken 15 years away from painting and bike building. Thanks!

I will do just that as soon as I start shooting videos again.

I actually just got a large bottle of the 4012 for the first time a few days ago as it was all my local store had in stock. Needed to paint a Lexan RC body for the weekend and mixed up my first color pearl plum with 4050 as i would with 4011 and it sprayed in thick waves. Changed my ratio for my other colors and got the job done but overall wasn't to happy with the spray. I was thinking it was the 4050 as its the second time I have used that always using 4011/4030 before. But i guess it does make sense being the 4012. Thanks

Zach, the 4050 is formulated to work with the 4011. The 4012 had more problems with the 4030 balancing clear. They really should just pull the 4030 off the shelves. There is no need for it as the 4050 is a superior product, but I do recommend using the 4011 for ALL Createx products when a reducer is needed. Thanks for watching.

What do i use for airbrush cleaner for Createx paints? Is there something cheaper other than their cleaners and what do you personally recommend? Thanks.
@TheAirbrushGarage
@TheAirbrushGarage Жыл бұрын
Hardhatcat100, off the shelf, would be windex or isopropyl alcohol. I am not a fan of creating my own concoctions. The reducer for your paint is still the best cleaner. It is just a fee of dollars more but worth it.

I have a bunch of Martha Stewart and other craft paint from Michael's in the little squeeze bottles. Any thoughts on how to reduce these? I like their colors, otherwise I shoot Aztec and Vallejo on plastic/styrene scale models. Thanks for all your insights!
@TheAirbrushGarage
@TheAirbrushGarage 2 жыл бұрын
David, I have no experience with those paints. I would stick to the Aztec and Vallejo but if there is a color you really want to use from the craft paint I would experiment. First I would try water and then I would try the 4011 and see what one work better. The Martha Stewart paint is an acrylic water based paint. Hope this helps. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching.

I wouldn't recommend any paint that is not designed for airbrush use for the basic reason that no matter how much you reduce the paint with any reducer, the pigments that are milled and turned to a fine powder so that the paint may have color isn't fine enough for an airbrush gun causing frustration with fine detail work and even more issues with tip drying. Spend a little more and with a little practice and you might be marveled at you work. A Good paint with mediocre airbrush gun works way better then a set up of a high end airbrush gun with a cheap paint. I've tested it@@TheAirbrushGarage

Would you recommend using the 4013 reducer over createx retarder for trying to reduce tip dry?
@TheAirbrushGarage
@TheAirbrushGarage Жыл бұрын
PD, some say it helps. I have not noticed a big difference. The best thing that will help with tip dry is that you keep the air on after you shut the paint off. I hope this helps, and thanks for watching.

Those createx reducers are nothing but snake oil.regular water with any of there line works just fine.I’ve never had any type of issue just using water.but I did have issues when first started and was using 4012 at the time.this is why I went to just plain old water and never looked back.save your money and just use water.it’s water based paint and you really don’t need to over think this.I will tell you this.I always use a small amount of 4050 with the heavy pigment paints,especially white.that really helps with flow and keeps the pigments suspended from settling in the nozzle

TheYogurtslinger, I can appreciate that. But...if you were to say spray illustration with water even after it is dry, it will eat into the paint. If you spray water onto Wicked, it would have no effect, but the 4011 would. I have a video on that very subject. I really do think that the 4011 amolsafys with the Wicked and does a very good job to thin it. And with only using a few drops in the cup, it lasts a long time and really isn't that expensive. With that said, I can appreciate whatever works for you. Thanks for the comment, and thanks for watching.
