First off all, you did an amazing job! Both kai and koi fish girl (I'm not good at naming either) look great! Second, I'm not a professional rn at all but here are some tips I've personally learned that I hope will help since you did say you wanna make these for your portfolio: 1- First thing I'd like to address is that the anatomy is great! Though you should practice more with drawing hands and looking at references but don't worry about it too much hands are just the bane of nearly every artists existence- 2- you've already got most things down, I love that you added a close up of the face beside the body! However you can also showcase little details about them (like kais favourite drink you added) as well under the close up so the page won't feel very empty (like what happened with kais page) personally I think you could've showcased kais fins (the one on top of his head and on his elbows(?)) And any potential scars he might have on other parts of his body that we can'treally see in the main pose(back,arms,etc.) Or even his teeth, or like the one u already did, items he might have or his favourite things! 3- if you want to take this a step further you can also try drawing them with different expressions! Like for examples draw the face 5 times and in each one show a different emotion(anger,sadness,joy,fear,confusion,you get the point) of course it doesn't have to be 5 it can be how much you want, and again it is optional but it's a fun exercise to showcase how the character would be like when experiencing those emotions 4- now this one I didn't notice initially BUT the value of the backgrounds you have ARE EXTREMELY similar to many of the values and colors in the actual characters and that's not good, this was more of a problem with koi fish girl than it was for kai, the whites you chose for her were extremely similar in value to the background color and don't worry you can just play around with the background a bit and it'll be fixed, I do think it's a GREAT THING to have a different background color than the default white but you should always check the values and make sure they don't get mixed up too much, like I said if they were too similar you can just go ahead and play with the background color a bit, making the background a different color might help too! In general you did really well!! And also her catching the bread with her tail is soooo cuuuutttteeeeeeeeeeeee!! (Also I hope you do know that neither dehya nor keqing are not actually half human half animal and that that's just their hair-😭)
