I already did one with an Arduino Nano so now I’ll try to make one with an stm32, there’s lots of things to learn

I would consider adding a Tag Connect for convenience. The 17 minutes of routing could be cut down to a couple seconds. Awesome digital design!

That's a good idea with the Tag Connect, I was thinking using an ST-Link, but it can get annoying to constantly fiddle with wires

What is the benefit of using an external crystal as a clock instead of the internal oscillator inside the STM chip?

Crystals have very high accuracy (+- 20 ppm) independent of temperature so they are very stable
