3:10 if the object is not going to be deformed, you can model that without the middle edge loops. It will make the workflow easier. N-gons are completely fine as long as the model is not going to be deformed/sub-D/sculpted. Let's end up with the myth that ngons are bad!

Cute but totally outside of reality how one would build one of these. Most "robotic" armatures are a simple uncomplicated collection of self-contained subsystems like servos, actuators, perhaps reduction gear boxes, pulleys and a microcontroller. Add some sensors and what's about power!? So your design although appears functional is most for show as it is closer to a watch than a modern viable robot if you will.
