PLEASE PUSH LIKE to support Treasury Road. Really nice sun catcher! Great tutorial per usual and excellent camera work too. Since you asked about suggestions (lol), some people are switching to over the shoulder camera work, so we are not upside down. But yours is so good, I don't think it would be some huge improvement and your camera set up is likely fixed. I think some of your videos might even be over the shoulder view! Thanks again for all you do in the mosaic community. PLEASE PUSH LIKE to support Treasury Road.

Hi Bev, Thankyou so much for your support as always, appreciate it very much and definitely open to suggestions. :) I do use two cameras at times and have considered doing a third over the top. There are instances where over the top would work but it depends on the project but still considering it. I have some exciting things coming up so watch this space. :)

Another miraculous Quote! 'You don't have to be perfect about everything, it just has to look really good!' (If I was to talk at the same time as doing my 'crafts' I would probably say some fancy things like that too... except more likely cursing)! Hugs.

@@TreasuryRoad LOL! And keeping my exclamations of utter success quiet is also tricky! My favourite is shouting 'VOILA!' (to suggest the appearance/result of something as if done by magic) but I actually did it !!! So I try to keep that down to a dull roar! LOL.

I love that phrase too! I learned early on that if my eye doesn't like it, stop and fix it now because my eye won't like it later on either! And if I go slower and take my time, it does look really good. Of course I don't have the cool Oz accent, lol.

That’s awesome, remember to always read the technical data sheets and the safety/data sheets before buying any product . They are very easy to read and generally on the manufactures website. Always read these to double check the advice someone gives you including myself. 😊

I've been doing glass on glass resin. Using old windows or picture frames or mirrors. It's so much easier than regular mosaics and a great way to use crushed glass and other items that get buried in grout.
@TreasuryRoad3 жыл бұрын
Yes resin can be fun but you need to be careful because l haven’t come across a resin that won’t yellow. The Manufactures will say they have UV inhibitors in and other fancy words but they don’t say it won’t yellow, so just be aware of that. Some brands are a lot worse than others. 😊

wow that looks so nice also. I am confused, I thought apoxie sculpt was an adhesive. It looks like it can be used as both huh?. Thank great video.
@TreasuryRoad2 жыл бұрын
Thankyou so much Terry. Yes the Apoxie Sculpt is a sculpting medium with adhesive properties. It is not designed for grouting however l have used it in this video as a grout because the mosaic sections are very small and it saved mixing the grout. I would never use it as a grout for anything larger, it’s also a lot more expensive than grout. 😊

Peter don't know if you remembered my asking about grout on a sunflower and my intuition was as you said about not making a sunflower look dirty with with dark grout .so I guess lesson learned ...go with your feelings .will watch your video also on 2 dif. colors
@TreasuryRoad3 жыл бұрын
Hi Gloria, I do remember, you were thinking about black or grey. Really its all about what you're happy with as art is very personal, the colours I mentioned doesn't mean it was the right move to grout yours in, just depends what look you're after. :)
@gloriajanik19813 жыл бұрын
I need advice on a sunflower (my first mosaic besides a flowerpot) should I grout it black or none at all?
@TreasuryRoad3 жыл бұрын
I cant answer that Gloria as it depends on the look you want and what you have used to create it. Its always best to choose your grout colour when you are choosing your tess so everything suits. You can always change your tess colour if it doesn't work with the grout. It will save the guess work at the end of the mosaic. What I can say is if I made a traditional sunflower I would want to make sure that its bright, I wouldn't want the yellow area to look "dirty" such as using a grey or black as a sunflower is bright and happy, for me I would probably colour it in two colours, yellow for the petals and a colour to match the center. I have a video showing multiple colour grouting, its very easy if you decide to go down that path. :)

Another informative video. Thank you. I purchased various items from Merlin Mosaica to make my own sun catchers but I’m clueless in how to construct the layers with the beads and wire etc. Is there instructions on how to construct it?

Thankyou so much Renee, I’m not sure what you mean by constructing the layers, do you mean how to thread and make the the wire to the length you need?

Couldn't use the apoxy sculpt instead of the fix all? I have seen them use apoxy scupt for micro mosaic and no glue. Holds the glass fine as it becomes hard in a hour time. However it would block out the light going thru.
@TreasuryRoad3 жыл бұрын
You answered you own question. If you use Apoxie Sculpt you wont be able to see through it and this being a sun catcher its important to allow the light through so it illuminates the glass. :)

Is there a reason you don't use MAC glue for this suncatcher?
@TreasuryRoad2 жыл бұрын
The beads in the suncatcher were not totally flat so its best to use an adhesive with a bit of body to it to stop any grout bleed. Mac is a wonderful adhesive but it is a thin consistency which would not have worked well with the beads. Also using larger pieces of glass takes a lot longer for Mac to go clear and fully cure. Thanks for watching. :)
