Thank you, Steve!!! That is EXACTLY what I have been looking for! You are a genius. I will be trying it out right away. BTW...you are a very good teacher---you don't move so fast through the settings the way so many people do these days.

I am in PD 365. The mask option is under the main "Edit" button, just above the timeline. When I use the "Square" mask option and go to adjust its size, it shrinks symmetrically from both sides. What am I missing/doing wrong?

Appreciate the video...thank you...I'm going on a trip from New England to Cancun later this year. Any hints on making a vertical line (rather than East-to-West)? Thank you very much
@sgrisetti3 жыл бұрын
The process is the same except that keyframe the bottom settings for Crop rather than the left or right.

I was thinking it would be cool to have a silhouetted jet (black) leading the mask as it reveals the path to the destination. I have tried a few masks on additional lines, but don't get it to look as professional as I know it could...
@sgrisetti6 жыл бұрын
It should be as simple as just adding the graphic and animating it.

@@sgrisetti Thanks, i was trying to make it more difficult than it is by trying to use 2 masks. Indeed your suggestion was all it took, so thanks !

Nice presentation Steve. My question is how do you draw the line on the first map to begin with? Thank you.
@sgrisetti3 жыл бұрын
Any graphics program will work. Photoshop is great. Photoshop Elements is my favorite. It's inexpensive and always handles the job.

HEY, GREAT VIDEO BUT HOW I COULD DO IT WITH A LINE AS RACE TRACK? FOR EXAMPLE, I WANT THAT THE SILVERSTONE RACE TRACK APEAR IN ORDE OF RACING LINE.
@sgrisetti6 ай бұрын
You're limited to what you can do in Premiere Elements, jorge. More complicated animations will need to be done in a program like After Effects.

Hi Steve, Many thanks for your tutorial. I hadn't used "masks" before so am broadening my horizons. That said, I am using Power Director 14, have followed your directions to a "T" and no luck - the "lined" picture (in Track 1) is the only one the viewer sees throughout the whole clip, there is no peel-back. Help?
@sgrisetti4 жыл бұрын
I'd need a lot more information, Peter. It may be a limitation of version 14. It could be a difference between the Ultimate, Ultra and Standard versions of the software (You don't say which you have). But if you want to post your question at our free Community Forum at Muvipix.com, we'll be glad to help you troubleshoot it.

I'm having the same problem and I'm using 14 as well. Everything was working fine until you clicked the diamond next to "Position" to activate the keyframes. Nothing happens when I do this. I can hover over it and it says "Add/Remove current keyframe" but nothing happens when I click on it.

Hey, Steve...what I don't get is HOW you were able to draw the line with the various bends. What if you wanted to draw a straight line instead or continue the line back in the opposite direction? I guess what I am asking is WHERE and HOW do you create the line in the first place. All I saw was you dragging the mask back and a red line emerging with seemingly designed flow from one location to another.
@sgrisetti6 жыл бұрын
You'll need to draw the line on the map in a program like Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. As I say, you should have one JPG of the map itself and another of the same map JPG with the line drawn on it. Then you just keyframe animation of the crop to reveal the line in PowerDirector.
@Caribbeanology6 жыл бұрын
Ah, yes, I eventually figured that out after seeing another video up above yours. In your video, I guess it was to be "understood" that the map with the line was drawn prior to the video. My clueless self was not aware of this.
@jgposner Жыл бұрын
@@sgrisetti Hi, caribbeanology mentioned continue back in the opposite direction. That is what I want to do. I want to trace the paper route of a HUGE printing press about 100 feet long that has a ton of curved lines around many rollers, and goes up and down. The paper even goes half way through the press and then returns all the way back to the beginning and back. I've seen videos of after effects handle this by adding a trim path to a line drawn on a map. Does this program offer something more advanced than what you offer?
@sgrisetti Жыл бұрын
That's probably too complicated for PowerDirector, jpg. It might be easier in a program like After Effects, but even then could take a lot of work and keyframing.

How do I create two lines, going in the opposite direction of each other?
@sgrisetti5 жыл бұрын
That would be a pretty complicated effect. It depends on how different the tracks of the lines are and might involve a couple layers of graphics.
