I left that comment above before I had watched any of the previous videos. But now that I’m caught up I just want to say how amazing you guys are to tackle such an ambitious project! Seeing these guys start ripping a hole in the wall made my heart sink (I was actually over here on my side of the screen yelling no no, no!), but because I had watched the previous videos and knew them to be experts in Stone House construction, I reassured myself that they knew what they were doing, and survived viewing the demolition that way, lol. Phew.

I was wondering if you could maybe put a water proofing coating on that back wall, like when someone wants to waterproof a basement, that might just work, will save you alot of work and a headache, you might need a little bit of other work or several coats of sealant, I think you should consider it.
@bengt_axle8 ай бұрын
Have you considered leaving this stone building as it is, now that it has been fortified, and making the addition to the house the main living space? I think it will be easier to build with modern materials which allow for more window light, better insulation and easier installation of modern utilities and wiring. You could use the stone structure as a storage space for tools, a work studio or a summer house. You can spend a lot of money trying to insulate and water proof that structure, and it will still be dark, cold and small. Or completely fail in is waterproofing or something else.

Nice to see Heather back, wishing your Dad a successful recovery. I think the concrete floor that Heather and the girls did was great and very important as the new floor has gone on top of it. Good that you were able to change plans slightly to create the french drain for the additional leak you found. The opening of the door was very dramatic and I found that a bit scary, seeing how easily the bricks fell, hope opening more and larger areas goes well x

(Where is this taking place?!) Someone mentioned where, but what region? Perhaps Northern Italy, where there are many very small villages, where the homes are made of unpainted stone. It appears - very fortunately- that some people are reburbishing those buildings. They are absolutely gorgeous, so I'm so glad that there are people who are active in preserving history. (I wish I could travel to those regions so as to appreciate, in person, the beautiful villages.)
