Love the amount of work and attention to detail you give your work. Your videos inspired me to make a robot out of things I had laying around. It's my first attempt but I finished it and it looks really cool. I didn't video the process but did photograph all of it. Maybe I'll do a video of the photos. Thanks for all your hard work and inspiration.

This is se superb modelling. Even looks to me like a design out of a Gundam anime series, a bit like a cross between a Zaku and a Mobile Doll heavily modified to suit for heavy work on a big space station or a lunar or Martian base... maybe a moon or space station diorama base (like in Gundam Wing or perhaps in Knights of Sidonia) to display the robot would be a nice additional project...

@CutTransformGlue4 жыл бұрын
@@standupjoe I'm not in the US, so I can't point you to a specific MDF brand or store ... When I buy it, I usually go for the cheapest since it doesn't make much of a difference on the CNC laser. Also, I buy it on 3mm just because it cuts really fast on this thickness :)

looks great! the shot of the model with greebling before the final primer pass makes me think of patlabor - something about the high-contrast, high-saturation detailing against the first primer coat, I think. I'm interested to see what kind of final paint job this gets

First let me say - great work! I love your ideas and i love your building process ( and I hate your main material choice - horrible stuff :) ). But since i am a firm believer in constructive criticism i have to point couple of things that rubb me the wrong way (maybe i'm wrong so correct me please). First thing, the head. It has only vertical but no horizontal movement (can't rotate left and right, just up and down). The second is the torso - it has no waiste rotation. So you need to rotate the whole robot to use the forward facing head sensores/cameras or do a repair that is not streight in front of you. Anyhow, can't wait to see the finished piece. Cheers
@CutTransformGlue4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! You mean MDF, styrene and acrylic? I love it, the first one being the trickiest to deal with, for sure. Thanks for your feedback!
@mrgud76454 жыл бұрын
@@CutTransformGlue Yea, MDF. Tried it a couple of times and didn't like it at all, but i work in smaller scale so there lies my problem with it. I work with styrene a lot and i love it, acrilyc not so much , brittleness and all. But i understand the problems u face in cutting process, and for the scale of your modells MDF is ideal.
@CutTransformGlue4 жыл бұрын
I get it! MDF and acrylic is really bad for small details, like panel lines... I use them because they cut so nicely on the laser CNC. I'll buy another type of glue soon, like the liquid weld-bond one (I currently work with mostly CA glue because is awesome for MDF and acrylic), so I'll dedicate more time to the styrene stuff

Do you have any advice on getting scrap parts?
@pandr70364 жыл бұрын
Let me answer. You might ask your friends, colleagues, relatives about old, broken, not working electronic stuff. Look for visually attractive shapes in used bottles, shavers, cosmetics, toys, all of theese might be come in handy. Generally main idea - your imagination, how you use all of theese.
