@Cut Transform Glue I keep watching this video over and over, again, 3 questions trying to figure out... 1) Where you get the piece of styrene from? Black... can that piece possibly be salvaged from anything if so what do you know of that houses it... I know you prob bought that at the store, but other than store bought you know of any thing that has that big of a piece? I would love to know. 2) What SIZE is that circle/base of wood/styrene? You never did say a size that you were working with. So I can get an Idea of scale over all. 3) Can you do more of parts stripping of items you get or find etc? That can give me, as well as other people an Idea of what to look for out there or hunt for. as well specific parts wise. That also would be so helpful, I know it is kinda weird and not normal but your projects
@CutTransformGlue

Ok so: 1 - The black styrene was bought. You can salvage styrene from signs and stuff like that (some stores have banners and signs inside which are made out of styrene, eventually they get rid of them in exchange for new ones). 2 - The size of the base is around 26~27cm of diameter (that is around 10 inches) 3 - I can try in the next videos, thanks for the input! But I mainly look for dead electronics, the older the better since things were a lot more mechanical in the past. Old VCRs, cassete players, cameras, printers etc are some awesome good sources of greeblies
@larissamonroe21092
@larissamonroe21092 3 жыл бұрын
@@CutTransformGlue AHhhh I didn't know this, that is actually quite informative I may ask the stores then which can help in the recycling aspect... thank you. Ah ok, that gives me a general idea, of what is a good size, that isnt too big nor too little, this helps immensely so thank you. Oh yes please do, it does help.. yeah always dead electronics no reason to break down brand new ones, obviously ones that don't work, anymore. Older the better. Frankly my thoughts were what are really inside there for greeblies that I can use, vs ones that i may want to stay away from since they may not be what i need in the thing in question (as we as makers always don't have enough space for everything we find sad but true) even breaking down will beomce a problem if I have my workbench covered in things I need to break down. My husbands workbench is SO much cleaner and organized than mine is cause of this. So i know that one quite well. So thank you, it does help on what You recommend, and especially the videos, PLEASE PLEASE keep them coming it helps everyone out not jsut me...I love your videos, so please don't stop! ***BIG HUG FROM ARIZONA***

I totally get you! I'm a hoarder myself and I also have the lack of space issue.. The only way I'm able so save almost everything I find, is to keep things neatly organized, in storage boxes (the ones that are subdivided). Also, once or twice a year I go through all my pieces and I get rid of things that I've never put into use. But I guess as a model maker the pieces I collect are much smaller.. Thank you so much for your kind words, stay safe!

I thought I would share a thing I used or make hydraulics for my Silent Running drone. There is this sill kid jewelry making stuff. “Pony Lacing” it is called. The black tubing used to make the inside of the bracelets is flexible, bendable and hollow. It is made by Pepperell Crafts. They have beads. Connector strips and the tubing.

You are great man, in my top five of all youtubers I follow..your art is amazing!! With your creativity, I'd LOVE to see from you a project for a 'robotic/sci fi chess set', combining all sort of spare technological pieces (there are sets done with bolt and screws)..i'd pay real money for that! Anyway, keep up the excellent job!

So true, as you say, that a recognisable detail [the curved on the kboard keys] can shatter the illusion. I am old enough to see a cassette tape wheel and see it as just that, BUT you add a ring around it and 'voila' its a vent [I can imagine a flexible hose being locked into it. I think your ability to blend your story with the pre-existing 'story' that greeblies bring with them is the key to your remarkable story telling. And simplifying that grill was a master stroke - I am super impressed with your skills.
@CutTransformGlue

Thank you so much for your kind words! It really inspires me to keep going. I'm also happy that you've noticed the greeblies that I use cause I really put much though into it, and into how to use them smartly. Stay safe buddy!
