Its great how subtle you are using sliders. Nice video, thanks.

Great video, Gary. I understand why people get themselves so out of joint about this stuff: they’ve spent years learning truly complex software like Photoshop and they’re afraid that now every beginner on Instagram will be able to do the same things with Luminar. But the fact is, without a good photographer/editor with a good eye working the controls, the final images will never look right, so I say bring on the innovation and we can all decide what we want to use ourselves. Thanks for the video, really shows what Luminar can do, if only a from a time-saving perspective versus the same edit done in PS.

Glad you enjoyed the video and yeah agree it takes time to learn photography and editing and with practice you'll eventually get the results you are after. New technology only enhances what you have already learned so won't impact on you overall outcome only improve on it. Many thanks for watching😀👍👍

Totally agree, Gary. I’ve been learning LR/PS for a few years now but I still love testing out Luminar for different things. I think all three can make a pretty good workflow together for those who want to make it work.

Gradient mask on a vignette... brilliant idea! I've mucked about with the erase brush on a vignette but you just showed me how to get where I want with no fuss or bother. You're a top man Gary :D

Thanks again Gary it's always informative to watch your ideas and techniques. On the subject of Luminar Ai well I'm a glutton for new software so yes it's on order. It is as you say a completely new application not an upgrade to Luminar 4 and can be trialled for 30 days side by side. Skylum have intimated that they will support Luminar 4 for a year following Ai launch and I think with enough pressure from users support may be extended beyond. No mistake there's definitely room for improvement and at the end of the day the users will decide.

Thanks Gary; l’ve learnt so much from you and wish you’ll continue the Luminar 4.3 tutorials regardless of Luminar AI which I’m not going to purchase - As a Windows user I feel betrayed that promises have not been kept. Luminar 4.3 LR plug-in plus Topaz studio 2 gives me all the creativity I need. Your instruction is invaluable.

Thanks for watching and yes I'll be continuing with Luminar 4.3 tutorials as well as AI when it's released. Also adding more Lightroom and Photoshop tutorials to the channel.😀👍👍

Brilliant !! Thank you Gary..... I love Luminar 4.3 and will continue to use it as I am getting comfortable with layers ( thanks to great tutorials ). In saying that, I have pre-ordered Luminar AI and am looking forward to using it too. If I don't use it too often it won't matter, it's not expensive and might be great for quick jobs...... we shall have to wait and see.....lol

Very useful and interesting vid on this, thank you Gary. Agree with you re Luminar AI - I think the launch from Skylum itself was badly handled, so I'm currently quite negative BUT I do think if the programme is good, I might be interested. Too little information yet methinks. (seperate note, never been interested in putting figures, dragons etc into photos, but now I'm thinking a really really reduced image in an autumn themed shot....for Halloween. I might actually give it a try...). Thanks again for the tutorials, always interesting.

Enjoyed the video. I learned a lot. For me, working with layers needs to become a more normal workflow. -The new Luminar AI looks great, but I'll need a new computer (Using a mid-2010 IMac that won't die).... I may switch to a PC. Lots to consider. Thanks, Gary. I appreciate your thoughts at the end of the video.

Have only recently stepped into Luminar 4 and experience an almost perfect balance of looks/AI tools with full control behind. The new Luminar AI seems to be nothing more than an ‘Instagram’ app, so disappointing. Looking forward to seeing some content on the matter, not least on the view that they release ‘new’ products without ever fixing the old versions. Perhaps I am being unfair 🤷♂️

Gary, please explain the add new adjustment layer. And create stamped layer. What are they doing?? I USE them, but I don't know understand them clearly....
@GaryMcIntyrePhotographer4 жыл бұрын
Hi Carlos, an adjustment layer is a blank layer that applies any corrections (adjustments) you have made to the layers below, exposure, vignette for example but indeed any of the adjustments available in Luminar 4.3. Think of it as a piece of glass lying on top of the rest of the image that you can draw on or colour (adjustments) and these drawing will show as well as your underlying layers. If you turn the adjustment layer off, any that you have made (adjustments) on THAT layer will turn off also without affecting whats underneath. Using an adjustment layer on its own also allows you to dial back the opacity of any made on that layer. What a stamped layer does is gathers up all the information of the layers below including images and 'stamps/merges' them into one single layer - as if that was the original picture file ( and not the imported one) I often stamp layers and then delete the underlying layers (except original) to speed up processing power. Did that help explain any? thanks for watching 😀👍👍

what we will do with Luminar AI what missing Layers
@GaryMcIntyrePhotographer4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Avner. As for layers there is a brush that can emulate layer effects, not best description sorry. I'll wait and give it a spin to see how far it can be pushed in the layer department 😁👍🙏
