I have watched a lot of your Luminar tutorials. As one who has watched many other KZbin Luminar tutorials I would have to say I rank you in the top group. Maybe it’s partially because your photos are of such high quality and turn out so very eye-catching when processed. Good luck with your new PC system. As a Mac user, I may need to do that same thing soon. I love Macs but they are so expensive.

Many thanks Gary. I like the way you get a real 3D effect out of a 2D picture and the subtle way you make it happen, using layers. You are the first one talking about using Luminar 4 with a Wacom tablet. I know others do use it too. I would like to get some advice on Wacom settings for using Luminar 4. I don't think Luminar has pressure sensitive settings, so I use my mouse instead. It might also be a good idea to give your comments on differences between Mac and PC. I use a PC laptop myself I am using PhotoShop as a passthrough between Lightroom and Luminar so that I can go back and forth without losing the work and the layers Ive worked on previously. For non-landscapes I start with Sharpen AI, I come back in PS and then I go to Luminar.
@GaryMcIntyrePhotographer4 жыл бұрын
Really appreciated Thierry thank you and yes although I've just swapped to pc for larger work I am noticing the differences although yet not to any hindrance of working. Within the next couple of videos will be the equipment and software and in that I'll cover the wacom, although its mainly set configured to the basic functionality I use in PS & LR which I am using more now because of the pc (don't ask lol as I don't know why I'm using LR more on a pc) Glad you enjoyed the video🙏😁👍

Thanks Gary, everyone of your videos brings my edits a step further. As per your question about length, for me 30 minutes is my confort average when your focus is on one image only, more or less 10 minutes depending of the image. Should you opt for lengthy videos, processing different images with same purpose (ex. enhancing 3D) would get my entire attention. I like the way you set the purpose of your workflow based on the image at hand, but would appreciate more time spent on your analysis of the image before starting the process. Also, I like the way you combine global and local adjustments, but would like more of your thoughts on the way you intend to mix and synchronize these adjustments.

Hi Gary. Thanks for the video very enjoyable and informative. I have had problems when using lots of layers as they don’t all seem to get exported back into LR when I click “done”. This is especially noticeable when I’ve used an erase layer. This is pretty annoying because the photo is deleted from Luminar and even when I reexport the photo to Luminar and redo the missing edits I don’t always get them back in LR. So although I know nothing about what I’m doing I now create a stamped layer when I think I’m finished, turn off all the layers that were merged and then save that back to LR. Seems to fix the issue. Perhaps you could do a video on that especially if it has ever happened to you?
@nickchiarello38704 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter, I used to have the same problem until I upgraded my PC. Luminar is the issue as the file becomes too large to bring back into LR. My old system had 16G ram, but the new system now has 64G which might be over the top. But with a better CPU, GPU and more ram I haven't yet had an issue.
@GaryMcIntyrePhotographer4 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter, many thanks for watching. As for the problems you are experiencing with the LR export I haven't experienced these...yet. prior to the pc I opened directly from photoshop and the only problems I encountered was the time it took to go back into photoshop after the edits. Erasing did take a lot of time though. If I do come across it I will let you know. As Nick says it could be cpu and ram as luminar heavily uses cpu when processing because of the way it reads layers(top down) however with 4.3 this seems to be getting a lot faster. You probably have tried this though but once you get to a point in your edits before you finish, stamp the layer then delete the underlying layers. Complete any more editing and again delete underlying layers and then click save and see if that exports back into lightroom without issues. Let me know🙏😁👍
@thierryhoornaert99504 жыл бұрын
@@GaryMcIntyrePhotographer @Peter Romaine Isn't this a situation where using PhotoShop as a passthrough between Lightroom and Luminar is the answer? PhotoShop uses the same (smart object) file so that you can go back and forth without losing the work and the layers you created. However I'm not sure how it handles the Luminar layers. I had good results until yesterday when I used PhotoShop to combine Sharpen AI with Luminar 4 and layers within L4. When going back to PS it took the complete night and even then it wasn't finished. I'm using a i7 6500U 2.5GHz CPU with 12GB RAM with NVidea Geforce.
@peterromaine68814 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks all! I do have a very high end pc and luckily it doesn’t take too long to go back and forth between LR and Luminar. But even today I lost a small erase when returning to LR because I was lazy and didn’t create a stamped layer (thought it would be ok because I had done all Luminar editing on the base layer, all those edits were ok but the erase layer was lost). Good to see that Gary has been able to get to the hairdresser recently,😁

I like to create 2 videos a week but currently due to other work I'm only managing one so the longer video will be a wee while away (not too long though) I'm working on the format to keep it interesting or at least to make it so that folks will want to come back and finish watching it 😂 Anywhere between 12- 22mins seems to be the average for the channel and with these I can produce 2 per week usually. 😀👍👍
