One interesting thing with these walls is if you separate the mesh in to individual brick objects re calculate the origins and then add a rigid body simulation it is good for making ruins.
@ArtisansofVaul2 жыл бұрын
Thats a REALLY good call as the slight gaps between the bricks can stop the issue of the physics being confused by slight overlaps/hotlining making everything "explode" outwards. 👍

Hi! What are some reasons for the modifiers not copying onto the individual bricks? It seems to barely affect them :(... my original brick is made of octree depth of 1 because that was the only size the geo node sequence worked for... maybe I started out with such a small brick?
@ArtisansofVaul Жыл бұрын
The trick is to change your block to around the same size as one of the stones and apply the scale on it. You'll then need to play around with the settings again. Then copy it at that point. Let me know how it goes.

I knew about this but I never really wanted to use it exactly because you had to manually create the grout. Doing it on something like stairs would be even more of a pain than a place with windows. Now that geometry nodes are here, I'm thinking you could probably look at all the parts, find faces pointing downwards that have other faces pointing upwards very close by, and add in grout-like geometry between them. (Something like inset the first face and extrude it down through the second face.) The other problem with this tool is that different configurations get different brick heights, so if you like that look, you can't make a modular batch of walls that'll fit together after printing; I could probably spend time fixing the add-on to use a fixed pattern of random heights instead. But those are the reasons I haven't really used it much.
@ArtisansofVaul Жыл бұрын
For me the windows and stairs would be pretty easy to add grout using boxcutter and probably the most reliable. But doing something with Geometry is an intriguing idea. I'm not totally sure but it may be easier to do it "backwards" and create an object which will effectively be the grout and then have the geonodes create the stones... Not sure though 🤔
