You are absolutely brilliant at explaining and teaching. Bravo! Why do I say this? Because not only do you explain things in DETAIL, but also anticipate what we the watchers may have trouble seeing (going into Notepad to enlarge the expression, thank you). Best yet, you explain with the WHYS of doing things. (strangely most don't explains the whys - which is key in deep understanding of things) I will be sharing your channel with my course cohorts!

Hi there. Really love your style of explaining things nice work. I do have a question though. If I split the RGBA into different light groups the rest of my global AOVs don't work (except for cryptomatte) like specular, N, emission. Even the beauty is blank. This is when I bring it into After Effects. Is there something I can do to get the global passes working at the same time as these light group passes?

hi, just a quick tip. you dont need to construct the LPE's for the different shader lOBE's, if you just pick the component that you want, like "specular" you can use the same expression that you are using with RGBA_* so you can have RGBA_kick = beauty specular_kick = direct+indirect specular coat_kick = coat component
@TOILSTORY Жыл бұрын
Nice!! Thanks for sharing! That's way easily than LPE, let me try that out!

Question, but what if I want to split the direct and indirect of the component into separate aov? E.g specular_kick_direct , specular_kick_indirect, is there a quick way to do that?
@AgusGonzalezDev Жыл бұрын
@@TOILSTORY hi yes, simples as follow the built in naming convention from arnold specular_direct = built in name specular_direct_kick = direct specular component of your lights tagged as kick (remember that you can have multiple lights tagged with the same string) last tip, if you look at the aiAov node, you will find a checkbox that says "global AOV" and another one that is call "All light Groups" , this options are available just if you use a built in aov. well if you create the "specular" builtin in aov and you check the "All light Groups" checkbox, arnold is gonna detect all the lightgroups tags that he encounter at (render time)* and he will create the lightgroups Aov's automatically. *the only issue with this feature works great on batch rendering, but with ipr something could get a little bit odd.

Oh and as for the "all light groups" option, yes I am using that but I still haven't got a chance to test out the denoiser with this options, it seems like you need to define the aovs that you want to denoise at the noice menu and if you were to use this automatic option, do we just use RGBA* (i'm guessing this doesn't work)? Or is there a cleaner way to read all the light aovs during the denoise phase and run that? Do let me know!
