In this tutorial, we are going to talk about Light Path Expressions (LPEs) which means we output light into specific AOVs. LPEs can be used to extract specific light contributions from Arnold into separate custom AOVs. We also have a look at how they can be recombined in a compositing package.

I never saw anywhere that you could just create a custom AOV with only the fucking name of the lightGroup and that was all. Where the hell is that in the documentation? I'm using LPEs for that very same thing, but this way is much simpler! Thanks!

​@ Haha, I'm so relieved! You know, I've had this problem before with earlier versions, and I had to find a way around it. Basically, I was so desperate to fix it that I stumbled upon a solution, and I figured I should share it with everyone else who might be dealing with the same thing.

Is there a way to render only light while it is interacting with the object but the object should be invisible like only light pass no object

Any chance you know how to output a mask as an AOV for a specific object ?

Add AiFlat Node from the Arnold Shaders. (Select an absolute white color for the flat color. And that will be your Mask for the Object)
