Hey there! I wanted to create some art using this method, but instead of just giving it a simple color, I picked a picture, but it looks like it's not mapped correctly and there are just colored parallel lines on the surface. Any hints how to fix that?

Why on the screen It doesn't show which Workspace you are using?

This was done in a version of Maya before Workspaces was a feature.

MASH is only available for Maya 2016 extension 2 and beyond.

why not just playblast? Won't it work with viewport 2.0?

+Pedro Nogueira You can also playblast if you prefer.

Cool, I finally managed to follow you but only with 40x40 cube map, 400x400 kills my system, I hope you do something about this. Also hope AD will sort out this node mess in 2017. One last question, anger should I do my MASH operations, on the Repro object or the MASH1 object as a general guideline?

+Jonney Shih You can only do MASH operations on the MASH object. The repro node is strictly for adding / removing / proxy-replacing the original object reproductions.

+Maya Learning Channel Why does it then have Mash nodes? Wouldn't be easier to just edit the original object directly? Also one thing, is there a way to visualize the animated properties like alpha on the timeline with keyframes? Edit: two things, sorry, can I change the random strength seed number, because it repeats the 'random' pattern over and over again.

+Jonney Shih If you edit the original object directly, it will affect ALL reproductions of that object (so if you scale the original, it would scale all the cubes based on it too). This would mean all the cubes would always scale by the same amount. If you want finer control over the randomization, try adding a random node on top of the offset node. You can then animate its Scale Y and Random Seed attributes over the same time frame (just remember to 0 them out again by the time the animation settles).
