@@henryfrater so is singing live and omg, without autotune. I am singing in my Band at the moment, Im ok, but not outstanding, real struggle trying to find a real singer, before even auditions, I simply ask, send me a live recording, its painful
@henryfrater

@@songperformer-ot2fu Hahaha, yep! Autotune has become very accessible now! People don't realise that autotune was made as a time saving tool, as studio time can be expensive! It's not meant to be used for people to mislead others pretending that they can sing!

I love that "head buzzing" sensation, it's quite pleasant. Didn't know resonance was what it was though...just thought it felt good to sing. Or at least it did, before my voice got wecked by LPR and polyps 😒 Still, I'll know I'm back on track when I get that warm buzzing sensation again. And if it sounds better thats a bonus!

Oh dear, sounds like you have had a rough time of it on the medical side!! Were those polyps on your vocal folds? I'm glad this video has helped you to re-establish your resonance sweet spot 😁

Hey there! I had a little listen, it's all sounding fantastic! You seem to lean toward a more throat dominant resonance, which isn't a problem, as long as it feels comfortable for you and you like how it sounds :)

Hey there mate, hopefully I can help!! If you're just starting out, I would predict there is a strong chance that the current strength of your 'vocal folds' will be the aspect of your voice that will require the most immediate attention, and this would be a great place to start. We use our vocal folds to fine tune the air we release from our lungs into sound, so it's a really important muscle to strengthen, especially if you want to sing loudly and for long periods of time! There is a simple exercise called 'lip-rolling' which is great for beginning to strengthen your vocal folds, additionally, I have a video coming out this week about using straws which is a VERY efficient exercise for strengthening the vocal folds, so look out for that! If you aren't sure what the vocal folds are, I have a quick video on my channel that demonstrates what they are and how they work 🙂 Let me know how you get on!!!

Maybe this can give you some inspiration. Ed Sheeran sang horrible when he was 16 years old. He said that his ability doesn't come from natural talent but practice and perseverance.😊

Can this be applied to the spoken voice?😢
@henryfrater
@henryfrater 2 ай бұрын
It absolutely can! The best exercise I have found to help explore your resonance with the spoken word is to 'Read A Book Out Loud'. Literally, grab any book (it really doesn't matter about the content) and whilst speaking out loud, focus on where you place the resonance. Try talking with your resonance in your throat, then try talking with your resonance accentuated behind the nose! This exercise helped me to take control of spoken voice and it can help you too 🙂

You can practice a bunch of nasal exercises, or maybe your 'soft palate' is getting in the way and not allowing your sounds to get up into your nasal space! I have a video on 'The Soft Palate' in my vocal collection video series if you need more info on how that works :)

@@henryfrater Thanks sir, yes definitely. For sure thanks for that encouragement. For sure, it's interesting how some will like something vs not like something. How our bodies might enjoy something vs something it potentially has to be taught to like so that our souls and body match. Thanks for sure it been interesting to me to see how my untrained voice and throat currently reacts to things I try to find thanks to your trained voice and others trained voices. I know people say not to copy and clearly I can't copy everything nor do I want to copy everything certain people do, but it's just for fun sometimes to see what works and what doesn't, what feels good and what doesn't, how the "throat" reacts to certain things and to other things there is no reaction.

If you speak with a lower tone, I'm sure more people will like your videos, but it's okay anyways.
