Hey! Something I forgot to mention at the end of the video is I would give your finished terrain piece a coat of modpodge just to seal your work and protect it while gaming :). Feel free to ask any quesitons about the process and I will help out where I can.

That is awesome. I'm new to Blender, I'm relatively new to Sculpting. This is exactly what I'm looking for and what I am doing.

Started designing my own mini game. Your tutorials have been no end of helpful. Thanks so much for sharing the info and your skills. This was just what I needed for the buildings I'm starting to model.

To prevent the pieces from breaking while demolding, you could reinforce them with metalic wire.

Hey that's a neat idea thanks, I will give that a go

Your videos have been beyond helpful for creating minis. Just downloaded your shortcut pie menu as well. Going to try and incorporate that into my workflow.

What a great tutorial, one thing I would ask is when I build certain items in blender when I make them to scale and then export to stl the measurements are completely different. I’m using lychee as a slicer so wondering if that could be the issue. Also what size scale do you do your walls? Thanks Martin keep up the amazing work.
@MWSculpts2 жыл бұрын
Yes it's a good question, if you go to scene properties then under 'Units' you can change the unit scale to 0.001. Then the Lenth dropdown to millimeters. This way things will be in mm and export as expected. I am actually thinking about covering this topic in an upcoming video as I think it's essential to doing these kinds of things.

@@MWSculpts thanks Martin I changed everything to exactly what you just said and with miniatures it seems to work fine but with modular buildings which I’m currently working on for my d&d setup it always comes out either larger or tiny lol think I’m gonna try chitubox to see if it’s any different. As always thanks for the quick response mate 💪👌
@MWSculpts2 жыл бұрын
@@Athomeintheshed It could be that you need to apply the scale on those building objects if they are not already set to 1. Also if you are using 3D print toolbox I leave 'Apply Scale' unchecked. If these are no good best of luck with chitubox :).

Great work was about to start using the foam to build stuff but I think I’ll stick to resin printing it instead great video as always 👍
@MWSculpts2 жыл бұрын
Cool yeah you can certainly do some amazing things with foam but could be a good time saver having a balance between the two.

I'm not sure how aluminum reflection curing works, but I know using crumpled aluminum as a reflective material for growing plants is not suggested because the crumples create hot spots as the light is not reflected evenly. Would be interested to see an experiment curing w crumpled aluminum vs something more ideal

That's interesting, I'm not sure I get the best results honestly as sometimes I need to leave parts in the sun by the window.. So perhaps time to invest in a better one 😅

As a designer of miniature stuff, do you know if there is a "standard" unit of measure that is used? The switching between a miniature designed under the default metres and another that was made in millimetres seems overly cumbersome, as I often lose the puny millimetre object while incorporating a metre object.
@MWSculpts2 жыл бұрын
Hey Samual, I'm not too sure about standard. But personally I always use millimetre to scale things in Blender. 32mm is a great scale to understand how tall a doorway should be for example as often characters are scaled to this height. Try setting up your blender to use mm (0.001 metres) then if something is too big you can scale it down and apply (ctrl+a) the scale to the correct mm size.

Hey I might have missed it how did you do the 45 degree cut for the brickets been trying to watch but it goes so quickly I miss it.
@MWSculpts Жыл бұрын
Hey ah yes apologies, this was done using the bool tool addon, I created a cube then scaled on the z axis, rotated it by 45 deg then selected both objects and used the bool tool addon to slice away the cube
@officialraravin Жыл бұрын
Gotcha think I was trying this myself but the cuts always came out weird... but more then likely because im using different blocks on the other side. @@MWSculpts
@clave4160 Жыл бұрын
2.08 minute, what tool do you use to cut the bricks?
@MWSculpts Жыл бұрын
Hey this is a cube object which I scale up then use the built in blender addon 'bool tools' (enable this in preferences), select both objects then use difference to cut away the cube shape from the bricks
