+Shadowriver Bilingualism affects the development and efficiency of the brain's multifactorial 'executive control system'. The bilingual brain is used to handling two languages at the same time. This develops skills for functions such as inhibition (a cognitive mechanism that discards irrelevant stimuli), switching attention, and working memory. These skills make up the brain's executive control system, which looks after high-level thought, multi-tasking, and sustained attention. Because bilingual people are used to switching between their two languages, they are also better at switching between tasks, even if these tasks are nothing to do with language. People who speak two languages have also been shown to have more efficient monitoring systems. A 2009 study showed that monolinguals and bilinguals respond similarly when the brain's monitoring system is not taxed, but in conditions requiring high monitoring demands, bilinguals were faster. Bilingual people also outperform monolingual people in spatial working memory tasks.

After going through many of your videos (past and present) I realized that this is the only one that I really learned from. It's because in this video you started with something very helpful and basic and then slowly added on to it to form proper questions/answers. All the other videos seem to be very random in their information, which leads to a zero retention rate (for me at least) Do your books focus more on starting from the beginning and slowly working forward?

I have studied french for three years, I still have trouble with past and future tense to this day. This summer I decided to take up Japanese. I'm 1week in, I have half the hiragana memorized, and I'm picking up this language so well I can't believe it- especially because of how hard I thought it was going to be
@zainabb.27929 жыл бұрын
Flatter Queen you gave me hope
@JuriAmari9 жыл бұрын
Agreed. The grammar in Japanese is so much easier than French. While there are some gender-specific words, it's so nice not to have to memorize gender particles. The conjugation is simple too. I think what trips people up is learning that it's contextual and the text (specifically kanji).
@QueenPrism9 жыл бұрын
***** kanji is so hard for me TT.TT especially hand writing it also there are a couple characters of katakana that just hate me XD i love hiragana though.
@JuriAmari9 жыл бұрын
Flatter Queen I've learned 48 hiragana so far. I still have 58 to go. I've been using Memrise and it helped me get them down in 4 days. I'll definitely use it for kanji. I won't deny it though - I'm anxious about keeping the on- and kun-yomi straight.

Lexus Fox I had a mistake. Not "What is me?" but "What am I?" "I'm a pig!" = "Watashi wa buta da yo!わたし(私)は豚だよ!" "da yo" is a casual, spoken language. "watashi" is used by female in general(formal or casual) or by male in formal.
