Instead of using wood filler to cover up your countersinks for your hardware (like on this table, and the bedframe you guys made), consider pounding in a dowel plug and flush cutting it to the surface. It's demi-permanent way to hide your hardware, but you can pop out the dowel plugs if you ever want to disassemble the table. This will ruin the dowel plugs, but they're quick and easy to redo when you reassemble the table. The only time it's sensible to permanently cover hardware is if the project is a built-in fixture. This is a rented loft, no?

Love it. Enjoying the evolution process of you The Sorry Girls. Step by step, you're making strides. Can't wait to see what you do under the mezaneen and how you'll used the space moving forward. Also will the be an update on Kelsey's room?? Not a re-do but maybe some upgrades. Suggesting a 1/2" or 1/4" trim on the left and right edges of the platform so the chairs can't accidentally fall over, and a step where the diagonal cut is because it's a little to night to be a one step up.

You could change the fabric add some acrylic glass if it's a desk you could make a new table top and stain that you could add some plants or some decopage Idk how to spell that but yeah there's alot of things you could do

Thumb tacks and fabric or pictures? Dorm furniture is utilitarian and dull and a couple teeny tiny holes are kinda par for the course. And maybe switch out a couple pieces, and store the dorm ones elsewhere? Especially a nicer desk chair. My dorm chairs were a bit stiff for good study sessions. So I used to take the keyboard tray out of the desk and put it on my bed to work instead. A teacher trick for desk customization is to get a clear work surface and sandwich pictures or inspirational quotes or fabric between the original desk and the clear surface. Like a sheet of acrylic or glass, or they make like rubberized desk toppers in clear too. And painters tape will probably be strong enough to hold most things up for a year. If it's not sticking well, wipe down the furniture or wall to clean any dust and dirt off, let dry, and retry. And accessories will always distract.
