Whatever I've studied it was one hell of a resistance by Pakistanis. Imagine an area surrounded on all sides , where about 35000 soldiers fight a freedom struggle by an entire nation for about 8 months and then fight an enemy which was 15 times bigger for a month against total air and naval supremacy. It's just bloody impossible. Hell, we couldn't hold on to nam with all the might.

It was a civil war by the Bengali population of East Bengal Pakistan since 26th March 1071, Without Mukti Bahini outfit consisting of Bengali ex-Pakistan Army, Navy, Air Force, and Police Personnel including Awami League Party leaders and political workers, students and Begali citizens numbered 200000, who were already involved in guerilla warfare against Pakistan forces in East Pakistan where 95% of the population was Bengali. India could not get to Decca alone and surrendered 34000 military personnel, Bihari Razakar, Police , federal and provincial employees, and other West Pakistan-origin masses had to surrender to save their lives from civil war-like conditions where pro-West Pakistani were being killed by uncontrolled Mukti Mobs. Surrendered to combined Mukti and Indian forces in Decca on 16 September1971 Military POWs remained armed until more Indian Personnel came in to protect POWs from Muktis revenge killings. It was not a War but a civil war of 8 Months where Bengali people won their land from corrupt West Pakistan establishment . Indie cleverly through Media propaganda portrays Bengali civil war against West Pakistan forces as its own triumph.. Mukti, forces who knew Pakistan's defenses and their layout and intelligence, three Bengali ex-Pakistani Army Majors led Indian forces from three directions rushing to Decca fighting and avoiding pitched battles with outflanking moves..

How could you defend your country when your own people are against you and fighting. Pakistan has divided into two parts away from each other 1000 miles apart and India between them. Pakistan establishment resided in West Pakistan area of it about 3 lakhs Miles and a population of 50 million Punjabi, Pa than, Sindhi Urdu speakers, while East Pakistan has a 95 % Bengali population, its area is just, 55000 thousand miles but the population of 60 million a majority province of Pakistan, but ruled mostly by West Pakistan people. In the 1970 Pakistan Elections, the Bengali Awami League Party won the elections in Pakistan but ruled West Pakistan establishment was Punjabi Pathan and Sindhi did not want to accept a Bengali Prime Minister from East Pakistan. So, agitation and civil disobedience started all over Bengali East Pakistan. On the night of 25th March, Pakistan forces deployed from West Pakistan started an operation against Bengali students and supporters of Awami League party in Decca University, and other places in East Pakistan. Some twenty thousand Bengali Pakistan Army, Navy, Air Force, and Police personnel, and Bengali students, political workers, and Bengali people joined Mukti Bahini Group which provided all kinds of resistance and Intelligence with Indian forces, Mukti Bahini were locals. @@anilsahu5709
