Creative Genius? [Superfruit Reaction to Guy.exe]

I'm pretty sure all the voices were Mitch and Scott...I'm like 93%, lol. Superfruit's EP, "Future Friends" was absolutely nothing like acapella. They were highly produced in a very intentional, creative way. There is a video out there by their sound engineer about putting this together and it was really fun to hear him discussing his process. Mitch's solo work (as Messer) has a sort of a modernized techno 80's feel to it, and on "Future Friends" Superfruit also borrows a lot from past decades in a very cool way. Every single song on the EP has a video, and all of the songs are worthy of being hits individually - they are so, so good!

All the vocals are Mitch and scott. Remember Mitch's voice can sound female many times. The girls are just part of the video. The guy who helped write this song with superfruit and also produced this did a breakdown of the recording of this. At one point he isolates scotts vocals and then mitch's and talked about how incredible they were with laying down vocal lines and how easy it was for them to improvise riffs.I'm sure you would appreciate the breakdown. He goes by pretty sister.

This thing is full Easter eggs. Did you notice that Dr. Mitch-enstein has one blue eye - just like Scott has blue eyes? And one of the Scott heads on the shelf has an eye patch? The whole thing is a trip from start to finish. This is from their album Future Friends, which has one great song after the other. All the songs have videos, too, although this is probably the most elaborate.

They’re so much fun. Probably my favorite Superfruit videos (even though there are so many) is Hip Hop Goes Broadway 1 & 2 (and don’t forget the bloopers). They have said before they love 80’s and 90’s music, so wouldn’t be surprised if they do have that vibe purposefully at times.

Pretty sure that if Superfruit has a "real" guest star in their video, they'll put something about them in the title. For instance, when Kirstie was in the Frozen medley, the title said "(feat. Kirstie Maldonado)". So if there is a guest star, they're not shy about announcing it.

There are two kinds of SuperFruit videos. Most are vlog episodes starting around 2013, and consist of chatting, joking, KZbin challenges, etc. with some guests. A FEW vlog episodes are musical, where Scott and Mitch got obsessed with an artist or album, worked up an arrangement with Scott on keyboard, and recorded it in a studio. It's something they started doing in high school. Around 2016, they got serious, wrote a bunch of songs and chose around a dozen to record, working with experienced pop producers and co-writers. They were released in 2017, first in two "Future Friends" EPs and later combined into a full album with some extra material. They also worked with professional videographers and designers to do music videos for almost all the tracks -- full music videos with sets, costumes, backup dancers, etc. Most songs have an electronic pop / club feel and they are all worth checking out.

These guys are true CAMP, and it's great fun watching them share their immense talents. Those singing heads get me every time. I love how Mitch gets to shine in Superfruit. They did a Tuesday night vlog for a few years, which was really fun. They put out a couple EPs, mostly made up of original songs. They even toured - can't imagine how they did that while doing a couple world tours every year with PTX! I saw a fan video of them performing Guy.EXE live , and the whole arena was on their feet dancing. A couple others to check out: Bad For Us (there is a animated version, but I like the official video better), Future Friends and Beyonce Medley (PTX did an Evolution of Beyonce video, but this one is just Scott & Mitch). They also did a beautiful video with a singer named Rozzi Crane of the song Stay With Me. There are many other great videos, and I can't wait to see more SF video reactions!

Everything from their Superfruit album Future Friends is worth exploring. My favorites are Imaginary Parties and Vacation for the boppers and Goodbye From Lonely and Deny U for more introspective lyrics. All the songs have good music videos, but, alas, no bloopers. The bloopers are strictly a feature of their vlog posts. Love that you’re delving into Superfruit! Peace …

Thanks for the reaction. Hurry Up is another fun Superfruit full video. But the duets between Scott and Mitch with just a piano accompaniment are to die for. The evolution of Lady Gaga, of Miley Cyrus and a whole Beyonce album titled Beyonce are beautiful. But Superfruit can be super funny. The 2 crazy creative guys did a medley of Hip Hop songs Broadway style and hilariously funny trying to work around some of the filthy Hip Hop lyrics. Hip Hop Goes Broadway 1 and 2. It's Dr. FrankenMITCH! Gotta love SuperFruit! The sometimes "R" rated version of PTX. SuperFruit is definitely for grown-ups! (PTX keeps it "G" rated...maybe push it to "PG" on occasion). Lots to cover here, too! Look for their cover of "Defying Gravity" next, it's a must-see!

Pentatonix has not been strictly a capella for a long time. They started using instruments on some tracks from their Christmas albums years ago. And for their second originals album, The Lucky Ones (2021), they worked with a variety of co-writers and producers and experimented with instruments, electronic processing, etc., though some of the stuff that sounds like instruments are actually processed vocals.

I love the entire Future Friends album - all, or nearly all originals, plus the last mv they did which is a cover. I’m not sure if you’ve reviewed any of PTX’s Evolution of… songs, like Evolution of Michael Jackson, or Beyonce, Ariana Grande, Rihanna… they are spectacular, and Superfruit did some as well, just fantastic. I think my fav SF is of Rihanna’s Anti album.. they do Anti-Medley, as well as a medley from the tv series Empire (Empire Medley). And yes, SF is not acapella but sometimes if it’s just piano, it’s often Scott. They had a lot of fun back in their housemate years🎶

I was at a Seattle Mariners game last week and this song was playing in the stadium as we waited for the game to start. I hear this some everywhere from the radio to the grocery store. It’s crazy!

I would be surprised if there were any voices on this other than Scott and Mitch. There are a couple of tracks on the Future Friends album that have extra singers, and they are credited in the CD credits. In particular, that "instrumental" break when Mitch pulls the switch I believe is Scott riffing, with vocal processing.

That's not Scott. It's a guitar with a mouth effect on it. I was at the first superfruit show they did and they had somebody playing it. Then I believe pretty sister did it when they went on tour. He helped write and produce this song and ended touring with them. Opening for them and running the music tracks.

It's all them singing. That extra volcal are just Scott and Mitch overlays. Everyone else is lip syncing. The two ladies are backup dancers, they don't sing. They appear in a couple of Superfruit's videos.
