It’s great to see people taking the art forwards. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

It’s a wonderful display in my opinion. A job well done! I love the tree in the background representing the far away distance from the main tree. Thank you for sharing

That field maple is amazing. I need to look into that species for sure. I had never even considered trying it

As far as going back to the 16th century , Bonsai has come a long to where it is now. While I believe that it is still evolving, it does not lose the traditional foundation of the art. Thank you for the demo. You have such lovely trees.

The shou sugi ban technique is a lovely thing anyway, but looks great in your arrangement and really adds a different element to the norm

Yes. That has inspired me. I have a couple of old beer crates and a cream brûlée torch cream and I will give this a go. Very good video and explanation.

Für mich sind Shohin Bonsai aufregender als Grosse Bonsai denn es ist eine Kunst kleine Bäume alt aussehen zu lassen

I love the idea of incorporating the burnt wood into the display-next to the fresh, green foliage it has a classic wabi-sabi balance. I've never displayed my shohin and had no idea about the formal rules for display, so thanks for the enlightenment and please take the following comment for what it is: the ignorance of a rank amateur. For me, the fine woodwork of the small tables and the refined pots clashed with the more organic, rustic feel of the display box. I'd rather see some natural timber slabs and rougher, earthier pots to bring the composition together.

Hi Morten How do you take care of the plants in winter, do you put them in a green house
@ShohinbonsaiEurope4 жыл бұрын
Depending on how the winter weather is. Some small Shohin and mid sized maples are in a cold frame. Others stay out. We have only a few days of freezing the last two years. If there comes a period of much rain or freezing it all is protected from that. Building a new workshop and greenhouse this year to have space for it.
